I know he didn't handle things right at all regarding the whole April thing, but I don't think that makes him a jerk. I don't see how he treated her horrible until Season 6, until the whole April thing, and even then it wasn't so much of him being a jerk, as it was him being a big idiot. Chris is sweet, and romantic, but how long will that last? I would say Christopher has the rep of being a bigger "jerk" to Lor than Luke. Plus, he hasn't been the greatest Dad in the past...I agree that he has seemed to cleaned up his act a bit, but I just don't see him as being too reliable yet. I think over the past few seasons they have been "grooming" Chris to become the Dad and husband that was perfect for Lorelai and Rory. He got a steady job, became a responsible Dad after Sherry left him, and of course getting a buttload of cash from the dead Grandpa gave him plenty of free time to make things up to the people he'e been unrelaible to.
