Im compiling a list of the scenes from the first season that are edited in syndication (as well as the first season DVD). Adding to this list as I watch the episodes:

The pilot episode has a 30 second intro (with Sal Barone) both in syndication and when unedited, all the other episodes have the 30 second version of the season 1-2 intro in syndication and the full 1 minute intro when unedited. (as seen on the second season dvd)

All the episodes have the end credits rolling with the theme song playing, this can be seen in some of the syndicated episodes (such as "We're in the Money"), but many of them roll the end credits over a scene. (such as "Life and Stuff" where the end credits roll over the final scene)

101: "Life and Stuff"
* Becky on the phone and Darlene asking about her english book (in the beginning)
* Roseanne helping Booker with the candy machine (before asking for an hour off)
* The women discussing Booker after he leaves (after Roseanne asks for an hour off)
* Roseanne confronting D.J whether he ate some pie or not (before Darlene gets home)
* The real end credits

102: "We're in the Money"
* More dialogue in the kitchen before Dan enters (in the beginning)
* Dan and Roseanne discussing the phone bill and Darlene's bedtime (before Dan asking what to do with an extra 50 bucks)

103: "D-I-V-O-R-C-E"
* Darlene, Roseanne and Jackie talking about dinner (after Jackie reads the article about the woman who stabbed her husband)
* Darlene trying on makeup (you can see her running out right before Becky says "Mom, youre doing it all wrong")
* D.J drawing a picture with Roseanne's lipstick (before Dan and Roseanne leave)
* Dan and Roseanne getting food from the buffet (before sitting down)
* The real end credits

104: "Language Lessons"
* D.J is watching TV when Roseanne enters with a load of laundry, then Darlene walks in with the supplies for her homework and Roseanne asks her why she would do it on a saturday. (before we see Dan on the phone)
* The end shot of Dan holding the knife and the following where Jackie is watching TV are slightly longer
* Slightly longer shot of Roseanne and DJ in the kitchen and a shot of Darlene and the animals before Dan mentions that the garage is a mess.
* The real end credits

105: "Radio Days"
* More dialogue in the beginning while Dan is on the phone, including Darlene and Becky fighting about a hairbrush
* Crystal sitting down at the table after Booker gives Jackie his phone number
* A second of Roseanne in the kitchen before D.J enters with his truck
* The real end credits

106: "Lovers' Lanes"
* Crystal and Roseanne discussing coffee and milk before Pete enters
* The Conners arriving at the bowling alley (before Roseanne asks Becky about meeting Chip)
* Crystal bowling (right before Dan talks about "history in the making")
* A second of Dan walking up to the alley and grabbing his bowling ball before Roseanne asks Jackie about the bet
* A second of Chip before Becky tells Darlene that she has to go talk to him
* Another shot of Crystal bowling (right after Chip and Becky finish talking)
* The real end credits

Also in the 6th season when Jackie have Andy, in syndication they show the birth during the closing credits, but when it originally aired the birth was shown before the last commercials and pictures of Laurie Metcalf's real life baby was shown during the closing credits.

Hey

Don't know if this has been mentioned before. I just bought season one, had bought seasons 1-5 from the U.S (I live in Australia) and figured that the releases were the same all over the world.

I decided to buy season one here in Australia to check out the bonus material and to my surprise and I could be wrong the episodes are uncut. Most episodes run for between 24:00 and 24:30 until half way through the season then they run about 23:30.

All the scenes you have mentioned are included.

Some company released them here not Anchor Bay so possibly they were given different treatment internationally.

The DVD art work for season 1 in Australia is different. I looked up the DVD on what was HMV Australia (now Sanity.com) so the episodes might be uncut there. If thats the case i might buy season one from there as i didnt buy season 1 at first because they wernt in full.

I have seen the episodes unedited previously and I don't see a difference. I checked the season one review on this site and it listed the first episode as running 21:49. I can tell you for sure that the pilot on the dvd released here runs over 24 minutes about 24:30.

Most of the episodes run over 24 minutes then half way through the season drop to about 23:30 with a couple running about 23 minutes

With the exception of Becky's Choice which aired with a tag and the season finale which aired with clips of other episodes, all of the others end with the credits over still photos.

And as I said before none of the episodes run shorter than 23 minutes with the possible exception of Mall Story which I think runs for 22:22.

They were released by a company called Magna Pacific. the picture quality may not be as good as the Anchor Bay releases but it is fairly decent better then television but not as good as dvd.

Either way if you want the full episodes this is worth it. It has the extras although I don't know if the introductions by Roseanne are on there. I haven't seen them.

You can order the uncut Season One DVD from this website:

http://www.fbo.com.au/movie.asp?ID=25679

In US dollars, it will cost you about $25, and that includes shipping.
Keep in mind, it's Region 4 DVD's, so you'll need a multi-region or Region-free DVD player.

Being european that wouldnt be a problem.. PAL tend to play well on other PAL dvds.. especially region free ones :)

I got the DVD today, and the episodes are non-syndicated ones... however I did find a 1 minute edit in "Here's to Good Friends".
The australian DVD cuts out the part right after Roseanne says "another round, Claire", where Crystal is drunk and Jackie returns Roseanne's wedding ring.

This scene is present on the european set, which is a bit odd...

The Australian version is unedited however, Booker's speech about how a factory works on the pilot episode seemed shorter to me since the last time i saw the pilot episode.

The original Roseanne logo appears on the pilot with the blue shadow underneath it and Roseanne is credited as Roseanne Barr instead of Roseanne Arnold like in the syndicated episodes of series 1.

Im glad it waited for this, i ordered it in December in time as a christmas present but they didnt have any in stock and it arrived yesterday.

The picture quality is fine, i also like the way how the menu's are designed.

I'm seriusly thinking about ordering this DVD, even though I don't believe i have a region free dvd player. Its made by Sylvania. I guess I could switch my windows media player region since I really wanna see it unedited. I wish Anchor Bay would go ahead and re-relase the Season 1, but I doubt they ever will.

The Australian version is the best one to get, you get all scenes in place like the ones listed on page 1 and the quality is quite good too.

I might just order it. Plus i read online that computers aren't affected by it because they don't hook up to TV's. so maybe. Somebody that has it should go through and list the rest of the missing scenes. Is the long version used in every single episode?
