I, for one, cannot stand her!! She's such a whiney BRAT!!! The way she treats Van, like he has to be at her beckon call all the time, meanwhile she gets all bent out of shape because he gets angry about her mooning a bunch of high schoolers, going on about this whole "women have rights" tyrade! I know if he had done the same thing, he'd be in the doghouse, and he'd have to apologize to her. And she walks around thinking she's the greatest thing in the world. I don't blame Kyra for hating her guts. I love it when Kyra lays into Cheyenne and tells her a little bit about herself. I was always hoping those two would wind up throwing down in some sort of catfight, where Kyra wins. If my sister was Cheyenne, I'd want to kill her, too. I also heard that the girl who plays Cheyenne is a royal b*tch in real life and she and the actress who played Kyra fought in real life. Alot of the time, the girl who played Cheyenne made fun of the girl who played Kyra's weight, and that was one of the reasons why she became anorexic. Cheyenne is, like, the Marcia Brady of our time.

How do you really know what Cheyenne is like in real life? The show is written for her to do those things to Van or whine or whatever, she doesn't write the scripts for Reba. Cheyenne is a television character, who has to do whatever the writes want her to. They could easily make Kyra do those things too, but thats what Cheyenne's on-television personality's is.

No way! Cheyanne is hysterical. And she's hott! I can care less what poeple may say about Joanna in real life. She's great on screen and that's all I need to care about.

Jake on the other, I hate. He's so annoying, and serves no purpose to the show.

Are you kidding?

Cheyenne is one of the best characters on the show. (Other than Van and BJ.) She is cute and funny. Like Buffyboy said, I could care less what Joanna is like in real life. That is her business.

I love Cheyenne, she's hilarious. BTW, JoAnna and Scarlett definitely like each other, on DVD extras they talk about how great they think the other is.

There was a time when you wrote about things other than how much you obsessively loathe William Ragsdale?

Well, I liked everybody on Reba, including Cheyenne and the young lady who portrayed her.

She had wonderful comic timing and excellent chemistry with Van who was a cutie pie. :)

In the intervening years since you first posted that have you come to appreciate Cheyenne?

Who was your favorite Reba character, Diamond Girl? BTW, that is my favorite of your many names. Did you choose it because of the Elton John song? :)

To me, she was a self centered word that I can not say who not only sucked as a sister and a daughter but she sucked as a wife too! When Van needed her to be his rock when he learned that he could no longer play professional football, all that she could do was turn to her new best friend: a bottle of booze!

God bless you always!!!

Sometimes she's OK, but I always resented her for screwing Kyra over by being irresponsible by dropping classes and in doing so costing her the class field trip she deserved, and she never once apologized to Kyra for doing that which seemed like a missed opportunity to me. I'm surprised that was never bought in Sweet Child O Mine(the episode where Cheyenne feels guilty for being mean to Kyra all the time as a kid and tries to make it up to her by recreating the birthday party she ruined). I would've loved to have seen Kyra call out Cheyenne for how irresponsible and self-centered she was being.

They sort of resolved that in the season 3 premiere though.

Thats bs, Van left for Denver without even talking about it with her and he didnt even care that she didnt want him to go. Cheyenne had to parent alone, had to deal with her husband out of work, and pressures of being a dentist. Cheyennes growth after going to AA and volunteering at a soup kitchen, she decided to be a youth councilor, she and Van got their own house.

OH Nuts!

Reba not throwing Cheyanne out at anytime during all of that is what needs to be remembered, especially if you are going to say that Cheyanne had to do the parenting thing on her own. How much did she ever really do alone and in Van's defense, the well being of his family financially I am sure is what was on his mind when going to Denver and it ended up being just the thing to do because it scored him the better money that came to him before he had no other choice but to hang up his uniform completely.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. I will say that when Cheyanne decided to go into the drug and alcohol counseling, I finally started seeing some growth, but during the last season, nothing is ever once said about whether or not she was still in school for that. Van's progression in the real estate field is all that we ever do see.

Lorimar Television

Why would Reba throw her depressed daughter whose husband left out? Thats ridiculous. Van still could've told Cheyenne before making the decision on his own, he still could've stayed in Houston if he wanted. And its Cheyenne who comforts Van when he feels like he's missing out on Elizabeth growing up despite her not wanting him to be in Denver. And then in the next ep he lies to Cheyenne to go back to Denver early.

^^^ I am only trying to point out that Cheyanne having a roof over her head still is the reason why in my opinion, she didn't have as much reason to go to that bottle compared to other people out there who have it way worse than she did.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. As for Van lying to her about having to go back to Denver early, he only lied to her because she was dragging him to every place known to man when he was going on little to no sleep at all.

Well then if thats the case, nobody should ever have a reason to be upset. Kyra couldn't go on her trip, but she had a roof over her head.

She was dragging him places cuz he was gone 5 days a week, instead of just saying no I need to rest he makes up a lie.

JO Sweet Heart
07-11-2020, 02:17 PM
^^^ How Kyra responded to not going on her trip was her letting it be known that she had finally had more than enough of Cheyanne's crap getting dumped on her plate. What Brock said to Reba about it couldn't have been put out there more perfectly. What Reba said in return, "I've forgiven you for a lot of things, Brock, but if you take my daughter away from me....." in my opinion was wrong. She should've have been telling him thank you for giving Kyra somewhere else to go.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. As for Van, he tried to tell Cheyanne that he needed rest, but like always, the only person that she ever bothered to really listen to is herself.

Lorimar Television

Yes Kyra missing one trip was more than enough

Van was being selfish AF in season 4 and made Cheyenne cope in destructive ways due to giving her zero thought.

JO Sweet Heart
07-12-2020, 12:29 AM
^^^ If Van was truly a selfish person, the marriage never would've taken place to begin with because he never would've stuck around for Elizabeth. Then Cheyenne most definitely would've been a single parent.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. Why Kyra had to miss the trip is what pushed her over the edge. Right then is when Reba should've drawn the line where Cheyenne was concerned, but because she didn't, the only thing that I fault Kyra for is asking her mother this question: "How can you be a grandmother to Elizabeth when you can't even be a mother to me?" What makes me feel even worse for Kyra is her not being old enough at the time to get out there and work a job to get the missing money for her trip gathered up which is something that we actually never once see Cheyenne do, work a job that is, unlike her husband and you can't count her time at the soup kitchen because that was volunteer work.

Lorimar Television

"How can you be a grandmother to Elizabeth when you can't even be a mother to me?" Reba does mother her, thats not fair to say otherwise

JO Sweet Heart
07-12-2020, 01:06 PM
^^^ Letting Cheyenne get away with everything no matter who is punished in the process is not a fair way to be a mother when Cheyenne is not the only child in the picture.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. At the end of the day, how often did Cheyenne really stand on her own two feet when Reba was always there to provide her with a safety net? I applaud Kyra for refusing to be Cheyenne's safety net when Cheyenne never thought about how her choice of action impacted the lives of other people. To me, Van going off to Denver couldn't have been a better way for Cheyenne to finally get a good dose of her own medicine considering the fact that she did not want him to go.

I’m watching in reruns and she drives me crazy! Yes, there’s some growth, but there’s a lot about her that just stays the same. She’s largely vain and selfish throughout the series. There are a good number of episodes where she ends up showing understanding for someone, but honestly after five years you’d think she’d be able to handle things more maturely from the onset, but every time something’s not the way she wants it, it’s a half hour of pouting and screeching and often she doesn’t apologize for her part of the problem. She’s pretty and I dint begrudge her that, but the fact that everyone just excuses her actions here is so annoying. It’s one thing when that’s how a show is written, it’s another when real people forgive the character because “she’s cute, so who cares if she’s terrible”. The situation with Kyra moving out was probably the worst one, but the thing that also drove me nuts was her constantly wheedling Reba to be nice to Barbara Jean or help Barbara Jean our. Like, seriously?! You know your mother has good reasons to want to spend as little time with this woman as possible, but you still keep needling her to “help”. Come on, mom, Barbara Jean let’s be Barbara Jean’s workout buddies, come on mom, buy Barbara Jean’s house, come on, Mom, buy insurance from Barbara Jean, come on mom, let Barbara Jean help plan my wedding. It drove me crazy when everyone did it (especially Brock), but Cheyenne seemed like the least able to see why Reba might not want to fraternize with BJ.
