View Full Version : What decades were your favorite for music?
Number 9 Dream 10-15-2006, 07:49 PM Every decade was unique in its musical flavor, styling, and trends. In order, list your most favorite decade to least favorite (feel free to add any other decades you're fond of--I'm only including the ones I know best for my list!)
1.) 1970's
2.) 1960's
3.) 1990's (most especially 1992-1996, the 'alternative' and 'grunge' era).
4.) 1950's
5.) 1980's
6.) 2000's
Ireneparalegal 10-15-2006, 07:58 PM This should have been a poll.
No doubt, for me, the 70's!!!!!!!!!!
The 90s, since that is the only full decade I've been around for. The 90s had some great music, especially in "grunge".

No doubt, for me, the 70's!!!!!!!!!!
That would've been a good idea, but I am not sure how to do a poll that orders it from most favorite to least favorite. I am not sure there is a way, actually.
I agree with you all the way! Viva la 70's! :D
Ireneparalegal 10-15-2006, 08:01 PM Oops, I just realized you wanted a list! duh!!!!
Number 9 Dream 10-15-2006, 08:01 PM Being in born in 1982, I remember the 90's vividly (was a pre-teen and teenager in that time), and I have fond memories of grunge and alternative music (it was the first music I ever liked). I remember a little of the 80's too (mostly the pop).
The 90s, since that is the only full decade I've been around for. The 90s had some great music, especially in "grunge".

James 10-17-2006, 02:56 AM Having been born in 1972, the early part of the 1980s is probably my favorite since I was starting to get into music. 1983-86 were pretty good, but just about everything from 1987 on is boring and uninteresting. I don't mean to go off topic, but I have always felt that had The Wonder Years lasted into the 2000s, it would have incorporated that memorable music, and that would have been awesome even if Kevin were in his mid-late 20s.
Back to the topic at hand, I also have recollections of the music of the 1970s. I even have grown to appreciate the music from as far back as the 1940s!
APPLEI 10-27-2006, 11:25 AM 1.the 60's(especially the late 60's)
2.the 70's

everett552 10-27-2006, 11:50 AM 70's R&B, Disco definately!
80's House music (same as disco), Hip Hop (Lyte, De La Soul, Public Enemy, KRS, TCQ)
That's when music was worth listening to.
Gilda 10-27-2006, 12:02 PM 2000s ( I like emo, punk, rock, etc.)
1980s ( I like all 80s music, new wave, pop, old school rap)
1990s (I'm kind of burnt out on all the Grunge rock, but I still like some of it. I really like Toad the Wet Sprocket, the Gin Blossoms, etc.)
1960s (I like Janis Joplin and the Doors)
1970s (I like the Eagles and Tom Petty)
JoPol_wannabe 10-27-2006, 11:14 PM for Rock it would have to be 70's & 80's. More so on the 80's cause I just have way more songs I like from that era then any of them. But for Country it would have to be late 80's early 90's. Not saying I hate country now I still like it I just liked it better back then cause it wasn't quite as rocky it was more country back then it was just starting to get rocky in the 90's so those are my favorites.
But here is my list for rock music
80's
70's
60's
90's
2000's - depneds on the song & group cause sometimes I can like it more then the 90's

66 through 68 has to be the 'golden age' of hits for me, as well as 59 to 61; it's probably because I have happy memories of those times in my life.
I have to go along with what you said about the 00's. To me, it's a creative wasteland, both in music and entertainment. (Guess I'm getting old!!! )
Mr. Television 10-28-2006, 12:10 AM I like music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I don't listen to modern music.
JuicyCoutureGirl 10-28-2006, 12:28 AM 1. 1990's(those euro dance groups I loved as a teen, plus grunge and R&B. Rap was ten times better than today.)
2. 1980's(Prince, the glory days of Whitney Houston, the Bad album I played over and over and those pop bands like Culture Club)
3. 2000's(I would put this on the bottom of the list but I forgot, the '70's and '60's have to go somewhere..)
4. 1970's(I'm drawing a blank, sorry I was born in 1980.)
5. 1960's(I'm sorry, but music was corny back then.)

freshprinceofLA 02-05-2007, 06:33 AM I really liked rap in the 80's & most of the 90's and the early 2000's (2000-2001). I don't listen to much of the new rap with the exception of a couple rappers. It's all about the tupac, B.I.G., N.W.A., Dr.Dre and run d.m.c. days!
I like classic rock. The best years of rock 60's, 70's, 80's.
