View Full Version : Co-Worker Has Bone Cancer
80s_Fan 10-15-2006, 04:30 PM I found out thursday night at work that one of our fellow co-workers has bone cancer and he's only 24 so I have been told. So far; he's doing chemotherapy but no other update has been given to us as of yet.
A card has been signed for him and money has been given and we all hope and pray that he will beat this and be just fine. I know that cancer is deadly and everything but he's such a good person; a good worker and so forth.
Nobody deserves this but I know that it happens but it's not fair when it happens to someone who's good in every way possible. I will keep you posted when I find out more. Please say a prayer for him and his family.
Thanks!!
:crying:
Janice 10-15-2006, 06:19 PM I'm sorry to hear about your co-worker. That's just so young. Cancer is like a monster, and you never know when it will strike.
Prayers for your friend. That's very sad.
Studio 60 10-15-2006, 07:55 PM Is it Osteogenic Sarcoma? Where is it located?
Im just curious because my brother had it when he was 7 and now hes 24 and cancer free.
I also had a friend and she had it too, and she was only 15. She is fine now.
Your co-worker can and will beat it.
Its always good to hear stories from people who have beat it.
I send prayers for him.
Lex Luthor 10-16-2006, 02:58 AM That is horrible
I had a close coworker recently lose his battle with cancer and he was only 21. It is a very cruel disease but do have hope as there have been many breakthroughs with treatments and I personally know of 3 people who have beaten it. Never give up hope.
Cheers
ponytail 10-16-2006, 06:19 AM Oh that's sad to hear. I pray he beats this cancer.

My late mother died from colon cancer on January 16, 2005 and I miss her terribly. She waited too long so it spread everywhere so there was no hope.
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother and everything. I had some relatives (mostly on my mother's side) that died from some type of cancer.
My thoughts and prayers are with you too and keep us posted on your grandmother. Thanks for your concern too. :bighug:
Nighthawk76 10-16-2006, 05:23 PM I'm sorry. There has been a lot of cancer related deaths in my family too. In late 2003 I had a lump in my throat for about a month and it scared me to death. Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing serious.
80s_Fan 10-21-2006, 01:23 PM Hey All,
I have an update on my fellow co-worker and unfortunately it's not good.
He's in the hospital; in (isolation) for about 6 days and nobody is allowed to go see him, maybe only his immediate family is allowed though. Anyways, he's not ready to see anybody and I can't blame him; he's pretty bummed out but he's trying to stay upbeat, I guess....I know that I would find it hard to stay happy and hopeful. It's hard to stay positive when you are in that state.
One of my other co-workers is waiting to get a phone call to say that it's ok for her to go and see him; until then she can't and has to wait for that call.
He's supposed to have surgery to have metal bars put into his legs. At the present time he's doing radiation and chemotherapy.
If we want to write him a letter and/or give him a card; or anything for that matter; we can and then give it to her; and when she can go see him well then she would give it to him. She still hasn't gone to give him the big card that we all signed and also raised money for him; over $400.
All we can do for now is to pray for him and hope that he beats this all the way. We all feel so bad for him and for everything that he has to go thru.
When I have more updates; I will post them. Until then, please pray for him.

80s_Fan 11-05-2006, 06:51 PM Here's another update on my fellow co-worker with bone cancer.
He's home and can't walk anymore; must use a wheelchair.

80s_Fan 06-01-2007, 06:31 AM Well, here's an update and I'm happy to say that it's good news.
He's had surgery on both legs; they put in metal bars so at least now
he can walk, after he does some therapy. He will continue the chemo but
so far he's doing pretty good considering what he's gone through.
I will keep you posted as I find out more on his condition and everything.
Thanks to all of you for your concern and support

MonarC 06-01-2007, 08:55 PM :( I lost a really good friend of mine to bone cancer two years ago. It is a very painful thing to go through. I wish him and his family the best.
freshprinceofLA 06-02-2007, 05:15 AM I send thoughts and prayers to him. I wish him a full recovery!
TripperFan 06-04-2007, 11:44 AM Prayers and wishes for a full recovery.
As horrible as this cancer is, they have come a long way with the treatment. I had a friend in highschool who had this form of cancer and needed her leg amputated at the hip. She seemed to recover well from it though, but unfortunately I lost touch with her, so don't know if it ever came back or not (we're talking the late 70's here so who knows).
Now, rather than amputating, they remove the diseased tissue, and support the leg with the titanium rods you mentioned so at least the legs are left intact. Now it's a case of letting the chemo and other drug treatments take hold.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Scoobiedoo30 06-05-2007, 01:27 AM you can count o0n me to keep praying
