ok lets see here--- what is the first show that got you into trading in the first place and were you able to locate it????

the show that got me started was a silly 1980s sitcom called

FILTHY RICH starring Slim Pickens and Dixie Carter. It lasted 1 1/2 seasons. Was about a rich man who died, but he had lots of heirs fighting over his fortune. he had made video tapes before he died and they had to go through a whole lot to see who would get the $$$.

theme song went

"FILTHY RICH, thats a whole lotta money
FILTHY RICH, its kinda sad and kinda funny"

to date, poor lamont has NO episodes of this show!!!!

I always kind of dabbled in trading, but I started doing a lot more this summer because I was looking for uncut episodes of Who's the Boss (I know, I know, cheesy 80s sitcom, but I love it!) When I heard that they weren't going to make anymore DVDs, I decided to find the episodes on my own. I've found about 5 network broadcasts, and also some Columbia House tapes, and I found a woman who taped them during the original run, and we're trying to set up a trade. Sooo...I found a few, and hopefully I'll be getting a lot more!

Mod Squad. I loved that show as a kid in the early-mid 70s but then it disappeared off the air and was not syndicated much, at least, not where I lived. Then, as cruel fate would have, it aired locally late nights 10 years later as soon as I moved away from home to go to university (1986). I got my little brother to record some eps for me and I ended up with 3 tapes worth, and that started the quest to trade for the others. I still have one of those tapes, will probably always keep it, although the picture has degenerated so much it's basically unwatchable.

Obviously there was no internet in those days, so no epguides.com or tv.com, and I remember going to the library and researching episode guides.

It took me 15 years to complete the series, not that I was actively pursuing it during all that time.

At the time I was trading vcds and then one day a friend came over to me with a few dvds of Phil Silver's, Bilko show. I was hooked. Went out and bought a burner, was given some burning programs and I was on my way. It's a great hobby and has given me me many hours of enjoyment.

Watching a series called Scotland Yard from 1958. True crime cases from the yard. Have watched the first 16 and it is a great series. Plenty of twists. For mysteries you can't beat the Brtit's. The comedies, I have no clue what they are saying or what it's about. If you want to enjoy something, watch the 4 Margaret Rutherford, Miss Marple series from the early 60's. You will see what a mystery should be like.

Laramie quickly folowed by Broken Arrow. Took me a while to track down complete Broken Arrow by putting together episodes from various sources. Very pleased to see my authored setwith meuns is now doing the rounds - even selling for big money on certain sites I understand.

I got into this looking for game shows (The Price Is Right, Let's Make A Deal, Family Feud) for the developmentally delayed individuals that I work with. I still don't have a single game show.

it was The Bionic Woman ...one of my all time faves...I had just gotten a DVD recorder and Bionic Woman was airing in syndication weekenights at midnight on tv here uncut so I started to record it. Unfortunately I was only able to get the first season and part of the 3rd before they pulled it off the air. That started my quest to try and find more episodes. I had heard of a magazine called the TV COLLECTOR that had ads in it that hooked traders up with other traders of old tv shows so I got a subscription and started posting "Wants" in their publication. Besides BIONIC WOMAN, BEWITCHED and GET SMART were the two other series that I first started collecting and got me into trading in the first place.

The Crossover Episode between Laverne and Shirley, Happy Days, and Mork and Mindy. I was searching everywhere for the Mork and Mindy Pilot because I never knew Mork and Laverne was in the Cunningham's Living Room

My Dad is a big Bilko fan and he had always wanted to see 'The New Phil Silvers Show', but it was just so rare.

When I discovered the power of the internet, I started searching, and a year and a half later I had collected 7 episodes, just in time for his 60th Birthday.

Not the greatest amount, but it was quite good for a newbie, and the set is still floating around out there as the most complete yet.

I'm still looking for more episodes, but I doubt I'll ever find any.

What first started me trading was amature college exchange trading- we had a lending library, and I thought it woudl be cool to haeva video library.
So I used my closet and put stuff people dind't wnat-
if the brought something, they could take something else
and it was just an even exchange.
So people would be constantly adding, taking, exchanging- and then I started adding to it privately and it just grew from there-
SO it wasn't a particular item just the idea of it-
Becuase most often how many times did you watch the same movie anyhow?

They still to this day, have a lending sytem its called Video Vender and someone is in charge of the inventory each semester, but I paved the way

Online, the first thing I ever looked for was Burns and Allen, got some.
that was 8 years ago.

Now, I have about 303 episodes-and pretty much, my want list still seems as big.

SO I guess everyone is stuck with me for awhile

There wasn't one show that got me into trading. Instead, I'd found some shows on Ebay that I liked, including ~15 episodes of "The Fugitive" for Christmas for my husband. Then I kept wondering where all these sellers on Ebay got the shows & spent alot of time Googling shows & ending up finding various trade sites.

I started off one night by looking for more episodes of Different Strokes as I fear season 3 may not be released. Then I came across SOL on the site I looked at and noticed al the different shows on here and looked at 90's and noticed someone had California Dreams complete and decided I wanted it. I got bumped on my first attempt by a scammer but KonfusionFTC hooked me up with it and I'm slowly becoming an addict of old tv shows and other things:lol:

Great hobby I think. Not too expensive and get some great things
