View Full Version : Favorite story told by the governor?
svt65 10-07-2006, 01:11 AM Hello,
First time posting to the board, though I've been reading for a while.
Anyway, I was wondering: what's your favorite story told by the governor?
I haven’t seen all the episodes from the first two seasons, but so far, the best one for me is from “Half-Court Trap,” when Gene reminisces about his pet, Rover the Pig. It always cracks me up!
Scoobiedoo30 10-07-2006, 10:39 AM I would have to say all The Governor Story's are my Favorite
BensonFan 10-07-2006, 11:03 AM In "Two Boys and Their Dog" when he tells the story of an aunt who grew emotionally attached to a pig. ...how she dressed him in a little suit and tie...and then as he's walking out the door he tries to mimic the pig all dressed up with his curly tail sticking out.
robyrob 10-08-2006, 08:41 AM EVERY ONE of his goofy stories crack me up
Scoobiedoo30 10-08-2006, 10:51 AM I look forward to hering all the great storys all over again.
blink 10-12-2006, 10:44 PM My favorite one he told was the one about is great uncle Neilson Gatling who was going west with the rest of the family and they got to a fork in the trail. The others went one way and uncle Neilson the other. He was attacked by wild Puma's,ripped in half and left for dead.Later on he became a prowrestler and developed the half Neilson move.
svt65 10-13-2006, 12:32 AM Ah, yes, the half-Nelson one. I remember groaning (along with most of the audience) when he said the punch line. Then he gets called on having made it up; Benson asks if any of his other stories were just made up, and he says most of them are true, you just have to figure out which ones!

BensonFan 12-15-2006, 06:24 PM In Season 1, he told some story of how his brother used to bite himself in the arm, leave teeth marks and blame the Governor. I think then something happened when he got his teeth knocked out and the teeth marks "didn't match up" so their dad know he was lying.
BensonFan 01-25-2007, 06:35 PM Oh my God: here it is....I just remembered this one....
In the episode "The Little Hotel That Could", he talks about how he first "lost his innocence" at the hotel which was to be demolished. He tells Benson how he followed Mrs. Robinson up to her room and that he "saw something no innocent 5-year-old should ever see". Benson looks at him in disbelief, saying, "You lost your innocence when you were 5? 5 years old? You expect me to believe that?" As it turns out the Governor was talking about how he saw Mr. Robinson putting on his Santa Claus outfit. Then he said, "I knew from that moment on, I would never be a child again." I love Benson's reply: "You were wrong."

"The Little Hotel That Could" is from Season 5. I'm telling you, JN's delivery of that story is so good. You have to see it to really appreciate it.

Sure! :D
Yeah, S1 is pretty good and I think the show gets even better...Benson lasts for 7 seasons and my personal favorite time frame is from about S3 to S5. That's when I think things really start picking up. :)
catlover79 11-09-2007, 12:52 AM OK, Sony, we're all ready for Season 2! Snap to it!! :D
