Holly 10-04-2006, 10:06 AM I know I asked about six months ago if everyone could keep my mother in their thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry to ask again, but my mother is really sick. I didn't know until tonight how sick. I have a feeling it's even worse than she's letting on. She has a horrible cough that's down in her lungs that isn't going away. She was sick a few weeks ago, but the cough is still with her. She has Broncitis(Spelling?). She's also having trouble breathing. She's concerned that she might have a blood clot in one of her lungs. She has a blood clot in one of her legs that she found out about back in March. She's only 47 years old. I'm trying hard to stay positive, but it's not easy. There seems to be a lot of stress. I wish things would get better. It seems like my family just doesn't have good luck. :( She is still smoking. She said she's cut down. I wish she could quit. It's a terrible habit that's very hard to get rid of for her. She's been smoking since she was 11 years old. Some older kids set a bad example and she unfortunately made a bad decision back then to start smoking. She doesn't want to blame her heath problems on the cigarettes. She admits though that it's not good that she smokes. She's been exposed to all kinds of different things because she's been a nurse, working in hospital settings, for 19 years. At one of the hosptials she worked at she and other co-workers were exposed to Asbestos(spelling?) That's just one of many things she's been exposed to. She's also been exposed to high levels of radiation, etc. from taking care of patients who have tests done such as CT's, etc. It would mean a lot if you all could please keep her in mind. Thanks. I'm sooo sorry Jen about your mother.. of course you have my thoughts and prayers with you and your family and I hope everything turns out okay.... and nothing is seriously wrong. She should try to quit smoking and see if that would help out her lungs...But u do have my prayers.. Brian Damage 10-04-2006, 10:52 AM All my prayers and good thoughts are with you Jen. Nighthawk76 10-08-2006, 12:43 PM My mother is doing slightly better. She's still fighting the terrible cough.; She's taking her cough medicine. I hope the cough and the bronchitis go away soon. I don't want her to stay sick. I'm glad to hear that she is doing better, Jenny. :) KristinHerreraFan 10-08-2006, 01:11 PM I'm glad to hear she's doing a little better. I'll continue to pray for her. TripperFan 10-08-2006, 01:22 PM Sorry to hear this Jen. I'm sure she'll get better. Bronchitis can last for several months - espeically in smokers and if they continue to smoke. It just takes longer to get over any lung problem if you continue to smoke (take it from me, I had childhood asthma and like an idiot starting smoking at 14). If she could even cut down that might really help. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mr. Television 10-08-2006, 01:24 PM Sorry to hear this Jen. I'm sure she'll get better. TripperFan 10-08-2006, 01:27 PM I have asthma. That's one reason I never even thought about smoking. Those 2 things really don't mix well. Wish I had been that smart. Everyone in my family smoked and I've tried countless times to quit. It's the one thing I've never been able to conquer and you think I could - lost my father at age 53 to a massive heart attack and my mom 10 years ago this week to C.O.P.D. (emphysema). I hate myself at times because of it. |
