hello i have the first complete season of laverne and shirley on dvd and i did not recall hearing allot of music expect for in the pizza bowl is getting the rights to the original music really nessary for laverne and shirley because to be hones with you the only time i heard music playing was when they worked at the pizza bowl

They also had to pay for rights to use the opening theme song.

i dont think it matters nobody pays attention to music anyway what matters is the entire show not the music

I don't think it would be the same without the Make Our Dreams Come True theme. And the music from the 50's gives the show that 50's feel.

L&S really didn't have a whole lot of background music, there is NO WAY it would be anywhere near the problem that it is for Happy Days.
... and as for the opening theme - they already licensed it for release on DVD in order to release the FIRST SEASON, so that's not a problem.
i think that Paramount has unrealistic sales goals for L&S - they are comparing it to CURRENT shows (which actually get LOTS of promotion because they are still ON THE AIR), and expect it to OUTSELL them without any promotion WHATSOEVER.
...oh wait, the total extent of Paramount's promotion for L&S Season 1:
RELEASED ON THE SAME DAY AS HAPPY DAYS!
