In has now been over two years since the illfated reunion between the Van Halen brothers (Eddie and Alex) and Michael Anthony with their second lead singer, Sammy Hagar. Sammy released a really cool solo album calledLivin' It Up earlier this summer, but there has been no sign of any forthcoming albums from Van Halen themselves. In an interview over the summer, bass player Michael Anthony said in an interview that there was nothing going on with Van Halen. Not couning a 2004 hits collection, Van Halen has only released one album in the last decade. Their last album with all new material was the awful 1998 release Van Halen 3 with Gary Cherone as lead singer. The question is whether there is still a Van Halen or not. What does everyone think?
I have been a big fan of Van Halen since junior high school, and they are one of the few bands that I love as much now as I did as a teenager. I think the band should release a new album soon or officially break up in order to stop dragging the band's legacy in the mud.

Hey Blair Fan, I know how you feel. Love Van Halen, but I wish the brothers would get it together and just swallow their pride and do one last tour with the oringal DLR. Like Journey, these guys will never be the same until they get back the chemistry that made them great. I mean I like some of the music they made with Sammy, but DLR is what VH was about.
Personally I think they are done, and I would rather they not tour, then do the crappy things that Journey had done, like have a lead singer that lipsyncs for the past two years.
Like I said they should do a last tour, maybe with both DLR and Sammy. I think it would sale. Besides I really think Eddie is still sick. He needs to get betters.
JMHO!

Is it true that Eddie has started doing music for porn movies? I've heard that a few times on the radio but still not sure if that's true. If so, geez, I can't believe he needs the money that bad!!
Like Jrnygrl said, if they would just swallow their pride and get over it, they don't even need to put out a new album, oops, sorry CD, just get together, go out on tour and do all their classics. That's what the audience usually wants anyway. I'm sure it will be successful. But could Eddie keep up with the grueling touring? I don't know, maybe some mini-tours.
1st set - DLR and the songs he did with them
Intermission
2nd set - Sammy and the songs he did with them.
Encore - all out on stage, probably do 'Jump'.
Heck, I'm not a die-hard VH fan but I'd go see that!!(and not for 'Jump', my least favorite VH song)
Unfortunately, this will probably never happen!!
They really should have called it quits years and years ago. The last ten years has kind of been a joke.

ROTFLOL!!!!
I like Val, but isn't she like VH's version of Yoko Ono? Isn't she one of the reasons DLR was ousted in the first place????

I do know that Dave and Valerie didn't get along too well. In his autobiography Crazy From The Heat, Dave wrote some pretty nasty and unkind things about Valerie.
Sadly, I think Van Halen is done.
There's been too much bad blood with David Lee Roth and then Sammy Hagar.
A reunion would be nice, but it seems like no one in the band can be in the same room together without some sort of fight breaking out.
