Hey guys. I need some support here. It's kind of a weird story (males, I know how booby-talk affects you) I'll explain what's happened:

About 5 months ago I was in the shower and discovered a lump in my breast. I ran to my gyno doctor the next day. She checked it, and then found ANOTHER lump in my other breast. So I had two. She ran an ultra-sound and looked at the results and promptly sent me for a biopsy. Fast forward to this past Tuesday. I went to see my surgeon and he said that he had to remove them. I asked him to explain why. See, 95% of lumps in young women's brests are non-cancerous. You know what he told me? I quote, "The pathologist that read your biopsy said these are not normal lumps and do not have the characterists of a non-cancerous tumor. They actually are not sure what these lumps are". So I then asked, "what the hell does that mean?" to which he replied, "They could turn cancerous in your early 20's if you leave them in".

Now I have to have both of my boobs cut open in November. I'm freaking out. I'm 17 years old, I shouldn't have to deal with breast cancer. I hate having surgery, I actually have a really serious phobia of anesthesia, that I won't wake up. I'm reaaaaally scared, guys :(

Surgery is scary but if removing the lumps will lessen the chance of you developing breast cancer it will be worth it! Please let us know how it goes. We are pulling for you! Be brave!:)

Know that I will be praying for you and thinking about you. I've been in the position in the past of doctors telling me stuff and I know how you feel. God bless you!

:( I'm so sorry, Karly. That does sound scary, but like the posters before me said, it'd be better to get them out now than to worry about them later. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Stay strong!

Stay strong, and I'll be thinking of you.

Think of it this way - isn't it better to have these lumps taken care of now instead of five or ten years from now? Yes, you are still young, but it's best to have this procedure done to weed out the negative for the future. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry that you're going through all of this. It's not fair. Just try and keep positive, it's good that you're taking care of it now.

Karly,

Stay strong. I have had to resign myself many times to the fact that the doctor has those fancy degrees on his/her wall for a reason, and knows what he/she is talking about, no matter how much I try and contradict what they say.

It sounds like in this case, the ends are definitely going to justify the means. I know the prospect of surgery scary, but I think you'll wake up from it relieved, and you're going to be increasingly glad as the years progress that you had it.

You're a good "kid" ("kid" is in quotations, because you're probably more of an adult than I am), and we want you around for a long, long time.

I wish you all the best of luck. Keep us posted on the outcome as soon as you possibly can.

I'm sorry you have to go through this at such an early age. Heck, I'm sure it would suck to go through it at any age, but better to get this all done now. Hopefully then, you won't have to deal with it later in life. Good luck and stay strong!!

You poor scared baby. I'm sorry you're going through this, but I'm glad you found the lump. That was a blessing in disguise. Imagine if it went undetected.

I'm praying for you Karlykins.

Omg I'm so sorry! I'm 17 too, and I can't imagine being in your place. I do hope you'll keep us informed on how you are doing, and if one night you need anything, or just need to talk, please feel free to PM me, anytime. :) Take care.

Thanks for everything, guys. It's hard, because I don't get much support except from my mom and my boyfriend. I don't really have any friends, and it's not like the rest of my family needs to know (that would amplify things 10 times worse) so my only resolution was to run here... I knew that you guys would care. It means so much to me.

I will definitely let you know how it goes. It's sometime in November I believe, they want it done ASAP. Thanks again for everything.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Karly. I am always thinking about you, and I know things will go all right. I know it's hard to face this when you're young, and I know you have this feeling of, why does this always happen to me?? But always know we are all around for you, and nothing bad will happen. You have us as your strength, you are not alone. Don't worry about anesthesia, you will be fine. Tell your doctors your concern about that, and they will do everything you can to make your surgery successful.
Nothing can be worse than what you've already gone through, you are a strong person, and when you feel weak, let someone who is stronger carry you!

Tell your mom this is your pre-hospital wish. present: By the way, guess what just came on the radio: Maiden's new song, "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg", the greatest song all year!!!!!

The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg

Let me tell you 'bout my life,
Let me tell you 'bout my dreams,
Let me tell you 'bout the things that happen, all is real to me.
Let me tell you of my hope, of my need to reach the sky,
Let me take you on an awkward journey, let me tell you why.
Let me tell you why

Why should these curses be laid upon me,
I won't be forgiven 'til I can break free,
What did I do to deserve all this guilt,
Pay for my sins, for the sale of my soul.

Demons are trapped all inside of my head,
My hopes of god, reach for heaven from hell,
My sins are many, my guilt is too heavy,
The question of knowing of how then what I know?

I'm able to see things, things that I don't wanna see,
The lies of a thousand souls weigh heavy down on me

I know they're crying for help reaching out
The burden of them will take me down as well
The sin of a thousand souls knocked out in vain
Reincarnation of me live again

Someone to save me,
Something to save me from myself
To bring salvation
To exorcise this hell
Someone to save me,
Something to save me from myself
To bring Salvation
To exorcise this hell

Someone to save me
Something to save me from my hell
Our destination away from this nightmare
Someone to save me
Something to save me from myself
To bring salvation
To exorcise this hell

OMG! I am really sorry for what you are going through. I really am. Things like this make my own physical problems nothing in comparison to yours. No 17 year old young lady should have to deal with any sort of breast scare or cancer scare. I pray and ask God to take care of you and give you the strength to "hang on" and that everything comes out for the best!!!!!!! HANG IN THERE SWEETIE!!!!!!!!!!
