View Full Version : Has anybody heard of "Sydney" with Valerie Bertinelli?
seventies_sitcoms 09-28-2006, 01:48 PM Does anybody remember a sitcom from 1990 called Sydeney? Valerie Bertinelli played a detective, Matthew Perry was a cop, and even Pat Harrington guest starred on an episode? I have no memory of this at all. It must have VERY short-lived
tv star collector 09-29-2006, 09:07 AM Yes, I taped one episode of her 1990 series SYDNEY: "Who Is William Gold?"
which also featured Barney Martin, Matthew Perry, Hamilton Camp, Stephen
Furst, and Yeardley Smith (the voice of Lisa Simpson). The series ran from March 21, 1990 to August 6, 1990, on CBS. By the way, the theme song was written and performed by her then-husband Eddie Van Halen.
Her next series, CAFE AMERICAIN (on NBC), didn't fare any better. It only
lasted from Sept. 18, 1993 until Feb. 8, 1994. After that, she was angel
Gloria on the last two seasons of CBS's long-running hit TOUCHED BY AN
ANGEL. But, besides her role as Barbara Cooper on ONE DAY AT A TIME,
Valerie is probably best remembered as the "princess of the TV-movie,"
having starred in at least 17 telefilms (as well as one theatrical movie,
"C.H.O.M.P.S.," and the mini-series "I'll Take Manhattan"). (In case you
haven't guessed, I'm a big fan of Ms. Bertinelli.)

I know I remember hearing of Cafe Americain, but I didn't know she was in it. I remember seeing CHOMPS on HBO about 25 years ago.
catlover79 01-03-2009, 06:58 PM I've heard of it, but I never saw it.
Using my 1000th post to bump up this little Valerie Bertinelli trivia topic, and admit I've never seen Sydney, Cafe Americain, or Touched by an Angel.

And there's plenty of chances to see it, UP airs 4 back-to-back episodes weekdays from 10AM-2PM.
