Just curious because I have seen it more times than not. I don't have it on mine so I was just wondering.

i guess that it never hurts to put your needs and expectations out there right up front - it saves time and hassle, and really doesn't give anyone an inch to argue with if they don't hold up their end...

that said, i would think it depends on who you are trading with and how much trading you are doing - if you only do smaller trades with a limited group of people it probably isnt as big of a deal (or if you're just plain lazy)

Some people have a thing where you have to click to agree that you're not a Fed or something on their web sites before you can see their lists. I guess it makes them feel better to have it, but I don't think it offers any real protection.

I have trading rules posted on my site, and it makes me feel better to have them there, but I doubt very seriously anyone bothers to read them. If they did, I wouldn't get requests for hundreds of discs from people I don't know (I don't do big trades at all, and I'll only trade 1-2 discs initially with someone I don't know unless they've got something on my want list). I do actually read other people's rules if I see something I want.

it just spells out how i want to procede

and if your not up to it, then just pass,

i find that people dont read them anyway

i say DO NOT SEND THESE CRAP BRAND DISCS--- they do anyway

i say I DONT SEND OUT ON VHS, they ask me to anyway

As Deb said, I think the whole asking if you're a Fed before entering a site is pretty lame, although I've seen it several times. If someone wants to bust you, it won't make a difference. I mean, do you think any drug dealers get off because they asked an undercover cop if he was a cop & he said no?

I have my terms which are pretty simple (no trading for blanks & no selling) and yet I still get offers to do both. So it pretty much proves to me that many people either don't read the bold, red print at the top or they choose to ignore my terms.

I don't do enough trading that it really matters to me. I have got a few "how much is this", but I just say I don't sell and I never hear from them again. I also only trade here for the most part so I know everyone I am dealing with. I don't even have my email adress on my site because I just want to deal with people here. I have done a few at other sites but not recently. I feel safe here and find almost everything I need.

I agree you gotta have a TERMS section. Through experience I found you need to spell out things EXACTLY, otherwise anything can happen. I don't consider myself a hard ass or anything but I'm pretty specific of things not to do, which I condider common sense like do not write directly on the disc (if it was a sharpie, no real problem but I've gotten discs written on with ball point and grease pencil, which rubbed off and got all over the sleeve. Even when you specify Sharpie, people still don't listen. Same with cheap brand discs, you need to SPELL OUT exactly which brands you'd accept. Just stating "cheap brands" doesn't help much because I'll always get a Printco or other horrible generic brand and the person will always use " I don't consider it a cheap brand" as a defense.
