I always knew Peter's magic tricks were all pretty run of the mill, but today when I was watching "Lights Out," I noticed a few things that where pretty obvious.

First of all, when you have the volume up enough, you can actually hear the trap door in the back of the box open and close when Peter tries to make someone dissapear!! Even worse is during the last scene where Cindy goes into the box when Peter is on stage at school. If you watch the TOP of the shadow that the box makes on the curtains in back of it, you can see the shadow of the door swing open! :lol: I had a good laugh at that one! I wonder if the judges took points off for that one.

Yeah Scott your right. It's pretty lame. I watched the episode to just to see that part and I noticed it. Maybe Chris Knight was one of the popular ones because they all felt sorry for his pathetic attempts at those magic tricks!!!:lol:

I think they added the "mistakes" on the tricks he did on purpose, to show younger viewers that they were indeed tricks and not real magic. I'll admit, though, that it does look a little odd.

How did he do some of those tricks though? For real.

Like the milk trick when he pours the milk into his hand???

Or how about the wine bottles going from one tube to another?

I think I can figure out the banana trick.

The milk trick really got me stumped though.

I was also thinking about how some of the tricks were pretty amazing, after I posted. I remembered the milk trick, especially. That had to be set up during the filming somehow. I doubt it was a single, live camera take. Total camera trickery.

Personally I think it's kind of cool how they make some of the tricks obvious and fake, then they throw in stuff like the milk one which would have been impossible.

I haven't seen the episode in a while, but wasn't the milk trick just one of those pitchers with the milk in a hollow portion are around the sides, that poured into the inside of the pitcher when tilted ? Sorry, tough to explain, but here's one:

Thanks for the link. I don't remember what the milk trick looked like. Maybe it was so impressive that I thought it must have been faked.

I will try to explain it for you. Anyone who does not want to know how the milk trick works, please stop reading.

Imagine a regular, ordinary water pitcher. The pitcher you are thinking about has a solid edge on it, right? This means if you were to drill a hole into the side of the pitcher, you would see plastic material all the way through.

In the trick pitcher, there is a "gap" between the outside and the inside of the pitcher. This means if you were to drill a hole through the side of the pitcher, you would see a small "space" between the outside and the inside.

Now, the way the milk "disappears" is as the trick pitcher is tilted, the milk appears to flow "out" but it is actually being trapped in a tiny drain hole in the spout which flows back down into the gap between the inner and outer walls of the trick pitcher.

So, imagine a pitcher filled with milk to whatever level...you tilt it and the milk (or whatever liquid) is poured back into the pitcher along the sides. Once the pitcher is upright again, it appears the liquid has decreased because you only see a lower level. (In reality, it is the same volume of milk distributed equally between the "inside" of the pitcher and the between the inside and outside). If you were to look inside that pitcher from the top, you would be able to see that the two levels might not be equal. You would only see the "highest" level of milk from the sides which would still appear lower than whatever it was before the pitcher was tilted.

The only reason I know this is because I had one of those magic kits as a child. lol

I knew about the pitcher trick but the others I don't know exactly how they work. I did notice, however, that with the bottle one, when they lift the tube, they have one finger in the tube (holding the bottle?). Cindy's hands were small enough that it looked uncomfortable.
