So there was no change in neither one of those characters. Viewers probably wanted to see Zac with someone else besides Kelly and not see screech acting so crazy. So I think those two reasons may have played a part

Screech acted crazier than he ever been on The New Class. His character was worse on TNC than on the original SBTB and the College Years combined, and he was on there for 6 seasons. So I don't think that's a reason at all.

It didn't last because the characters were older and fans weren't as interested in seeing them anymore, and the new supporting characters weren't interesting.

I thought Leslie was interesting not that Girl Slater was going out with-lol She was a Wackball

I agree %100. And I believe it was up against "Full House" on Tuesday nights, which was at it's prime, and really kicked SBTB's ass. Also, the show kind of matured, just a little bit, and the normal saturday morning kids weren't that pleased. Those are some reasonable reasons why the show never saw a 2nd Season. I also think they didn't see much of a future. It would have basically stayed the same as it always was.

Don't forget that both "Blossom" and "Full House" were on primetime at the time too. If anything, "The College Years" was much more mature than those two.

I still think that the show didn't do well because of NBC. The shows running was never steady, during its original run it was always interrupted every other week. It didn't get a chance to gain a loyal audience.

...plus... the storyline was very good, but it just developed way too slowly.

Oh... and by the way, Kiersten is doing very well in "Desperate Housewives." And she's looking good too, she must of had some work done. She looked awful on "13 Going on 30" and that was filmed only 2 years ago.

Though I don't think mentioning the audiences of those shows has any bearing on the College Years audience. It started out as a Saturday morning show, the transition to primetime simply wasn't going to be an easy one.

Huh? I think Blossom was the most mature show out of all those mentioned. It dealt with a lot of Serious issues. (Until it's last season. Ugh)

I think you've hit upon the main reason: it WAS a Saturday morning show and
had a "cult" following but needed something more to draw a mainstream
audience for prime-time. To their credit, they did add some interesting new
characters but as someone said, the programmers juggled the show so much
that it never had a chance to build a bigger audience.

I think if the show would have lasted, then they would have made Screech a little more cooler just like they did with Dwayne Wayne from ADW. Many people start college goofy and nerdy during their freshman year so that was normal. Most people had it right in here, the show was a Saturday morning show and really should not been on Primetime on a major network. TNBC shows were more like TEENICK shows. It probably would have did better on SNICK on Nickelodeon or something.

I agree. Zack was going after Leslie at first which was interesting but then once Kelly came back it was just kind of dropped and he spent the rest of the season going after Kelly even though she was going out with that professor. And yes they should have matured Screech a little bit.

thats true, but u know people grow out of things, and move on to watching newer, and better interesting shows
