She got pregnant during the summer hiatus of ADW, So she returned to The Cosby Show so that they could have an excuss as to why Denise wouldn't be returning to ADW and why she had to leave Cosby as well.

Yeah if you notice in the episode of Cosby when Denise tells Cliff and Clair that she doesn't want to return to Hilman, she's wearing a huge shirt also in the few episodes that she was in after that they never show her stomach or she has a coat and purse in front of her. BUT in the episode where Denise ask Cliff and Claire if she could go to Africa, when Rudy hugs Denise you can tell that Lisa was pregnant.

I forgot the title of this episode but Theresa Randle played the single mother and Heavy D and the Boyz were the special guest. This was in '89.

Also Cosby was just the creator of ADW Debbie Allen took over in the second season and a lot of things changed for the better if you ask me.

ALSO Cosby needed an excuse as to why Denise (lisa) had to leave the show. So they had to send her to Africa, they couldn't have kept pregnant Lisa on the show, that would have been stupid.
