I saw for the first time yesterday John's guest starring role on THE BOB NEWHART SHOW in the episode "Sorry, Wrong Mother." Him and Bob Newhart seemed to be the perfect comedic pair in the scene at the crazy ice cream shop. Bob's deadpan look when John sang at the out-of-control ice cream shop upon Bob's request for a single scoop of ice cream was hysterical. "Single scooper, single scooper..." (John points to Bob) "... This man is a party pooper." I was in hysterics. It was terrific. They should've used more of John in the episode and not to mention in other episodes as well (perhaps in even a different role, as it is hard to do two episodes where a singing ice cream man is featured).
In the same day, I saw this episode and the chemistry between two comedy greats--- John Ritter and Bob Newhart, and an episode of PHIL SILVERS where Phil's and Dick Van Dyke's chemistry was spot-on as well.
Buy the hysterical third season of BOB NEWHART and see what I'm talking about.
