View Full Version : Did anyone watch the Ropers and TAC this weekend?
Heart Shaped Box 09-20-2006, 10:19 PM I forgot to tape the Ropers episodes, but I was hoping you guys could fill me in if it was good or not. I did tape TAC though, and so far I've watched almost all of them except the one where Jack and Vicky are in the airplane commercial.
Anyways, what did you guys think of the spin-offs? I actually thought TAC would be a little better than I thought, but it wasn't that great. It showed that Mary was totally the wrong choice for Vicky. She totally had no chemistry with John or any of the other characters. I would have preferred if someone else played the character.
Also, did anyone think that they needed to tone down the making-out sessions? Lol..the one episode where they tried to stay away from sex kind of grossed me out with all the kissing. The only good thing I liked about the spin-off was Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Bradford, and when Larry came back. It was so weird to see Jack act more mature and like an adult, but when Larry came, he was all goofy again which I think was better than what he was like in the other episodes. Any opinions?

So Jack was never supposed to change as he became older? He was just supposed to always be silly? Also I think you are forgetting that Jack couldn;t act silly and be clumsy around his girlfriend the way he did around Janet and Terri. No woman wants a man like that.

Exactly! Everyone matures sooner or later. Personally, I love a man who can be silly once in awhile, but, I want to know he can also be serious when needed.
I loved TAC more now than I did when it first came out.

I honestly feel Three's a Crowd was as watchable as Three's Company. Now the Ropers was a Different Story

I never said he was never supposed to change. I said it was weird seeing him be more mature and I preferred his attitude in that episode than the other episodes on TAC.

You mean his attitude when Larry Showed up on TAC?
Big3sCompanyFan 09-22-2006, 01:32 AM I missed the Ropers but I saw a couple of the TAC episodes. It was not as funny as TC but still very good and MUCH better most sitcoms today (George Lopez is the only good sitcom left these days) and TAC was still better than most sitcoms back then! It was definitely good enough to continue.
Why on earth did John Ritter reject having it as a mid season replacement for its second season when it could have gone on????
John may have done a lot of work after TC and TAC but he never reached anywhere near the MEGA stardom he had as he had when he played Jack Tripper, the funniest sitcom character EVER!!!

There was only one episode of The Ropers that I liked and that was the Larry episode.

The one with Larry and the one with Jack and the Girl-lol

Yeah. I mean I understand Jack has to grow up, but I'll always love him and Larry together.
brasspounder 09-27-2006, 11:55 PM I watched all the eps of both shows that were shown. I actually liked TAC a bit better than the Ropers. Who was this live-in Jenny person anyhow? Was Stanley so lazy that they had to take in a border?
My conclusion...if I was not a fan of TC, I do not think I would have been a regular viewer of either of these spin-offs.

I think Jenny was homeless and was discovered by the Ropers upstairs sleeping
