View Full Version : 18 years since Tara Calico vanished....
justins5256 09-20-2006, 06:20 PM and 17 years since UM profiled her disappearance on the second season primere.
She was in my thoughts today. I hope we see a resolution to this mystery some day.
ididn'tdoit 10-07-2006, 05:11 PM Yup, a really tragic case :( this is one of the top UM cases I'd like to see getting solved (But as I know, probably never will be). And if Tara isn't the girl on the photo, I'd like to know who she is/was.
UMfan77 10-10-2006, 01:49 PM I've never seen this segment. Has it ever been shown on Lifetime?
JimmyHendricks 10-10-2006, 03:39 PM This is one of those infamous "Never aired on Lifetime" segments, at least within the last few years. I think someone here said they saw it on one of the late night airings. I don't really know why. Perhaps the photo was "too disturbing", although the picture of the dead old man found in the trunk was far worse.

This segment, along with the Keith Reinhard segment, is believed to be one of a few segments that have been aired during the late night airings, but not during the daytime. I believe it's been an eternity since these 2 segments have aired on Lifetime (probably around a decade) I know that Robert Stack had to issue a sort of disclaimer before the photo was shown, so your theory of it being too disturbing might be correct. It's funny you mentioned the streamer trunk corpse, I just saw another segment today for the first time - the Dr. Richard Boggs segment - and that one showed a picture of a dead body as well. Pretty freaky.
kadrmas15 10-11-2006, 06:12 AM Well I mean the picture of a young woman and a little boy bound in a picture is disturbing. I think that was Tara and Michael personally but that is just my opinion on it. The old mans picture I could only watch once it just scared the crap out of me each time.

The remains of the little boy were found not far from the campsite where he vanished. The little boy in the picture could not have been Michael Henley.
kadrmas15 10-11-2006, 09:11 AM Well what happened to him? I mean did someone kidnap him? Or did he just wander off or what? I dont understand how they couldnt find him sooner if he was there all along.
UMfan77 10-11-2006, 10:43 AM Hey, there was also another dead body shown on a UM segment. It was the Cindy James case. The photo of her bound & gagged was shown. Cindy James was the woman that was accused of hurting herself & no one would believe her when she claimed that someone was trying to kill her. Very bizaarre.

That's right. The picture of Cindy James dead body was shown on the UM segment (although her face isn't facing the camera). But in the book "The Deaths of Cindy James" they had to have an artist draw a picture of the body (as shown on UM) since it was banned from publication. They could show it on TV but not in a book...weird.
SiberianKiss 10-12-2006, 05:27 PM why couldn't the little boy be Michael?
It's certainly possible he was murdered and his remains dumped near where was originally kidnapped AFTER the photo was taken

Well if I recall correctly Michael Henley's body was found in the mountains near where he wandered off. I don't know this for a fact but I'm guessing he died of exposure or something along those lines and thats why police don't suspect foul play in his death.

I think I read that somewhere too (about exposure). I was going to post, but you beat me to the punch.
SiberianKiss 10-16-2006, 04:48 AM well maybe the kidnapper(s) dumped the body near where he/she abducted him? I didn't read anything where it said the cause of death, just that they found his remians or whatever. I haven't read too much on that poor little boy though.
kadrmas15 10-16-2006, 08:46 AM Well it could be also that little Michael Henley was kidnapped and murdered but not by the same person that kidnapped Tara Calico.
Thinman 10-16-2006, 10:01 AM Any of the proposed scenarios are theoretically possible. However, it is most likely that Henley wandered off, got lost in the woods, and died of exposure. I think they would be able to tell if he had been murdered.
SiberianKiss 10-17-2006, 01:47 AM hmm it is unlikely that the picture of the little boy with the "tara" girl is the one we're talking about, however if he just wandered off and wasn't abducted...hard to believe they wouldn't have found him...any decent parent would know soon if their child was missing right away and then search everywhere until they found him, FBI, blodhounds, helicopters, etc.
ha that photo...so much speculation, that stupid book gets me every time...if that really was Tara Calico's favorite author/book...what are the odds it's not her. then again the only source of this info was her mom. So sad they never knew what happened to her.
I think it's very likely TC was a victim of David Ray. Somebody else mentioned this on another thread and the chances are pretty high I think....some witnesses mentioned a white/yellow/old truck with a homemade thingy hanging over the back (what are those called) was following her on her bike. David Ray had one of those types of vehicles. Too bad he's dead or they could ask him. I read a book about this monster and the author mentioned Tara Calico early on, the prosecutor thought back to TC and wondered if Ray abducted her. But it was pretty disappointing when the rest of the book had no info and didn't follow up on that.
