Personally, I am inclined to say things that challenge our viewpoints and make us re-examine our lives are the greatest moments.

examples:
1.) First interracial kiss: Star Trek
2.) First gay marriage: I believe this was on Northern Exposure. They were not the first show to have gay people featured, but the gay couple on this show were recurring characters and I believe the first to get married.
3.) Ellen's coming out episode.
4.) Basically the entire run of All in the Family and M*A*S*H

There were many great moments in tv history, newswise. But my vote goes to The Beatles appearing on Ed Sullivan. It was sooooo exciting!
Also when The Detroit Tigers won the World Series in 1984. Well..... I was excited anyway!
Great moments are in the eye of the beholder! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/happyface.gif

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

[Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter]
