View Full Version : Has anyone ever met any of the cast?
folie_a_deux 09-17-2006, 11:15 PM I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever met anyone from FOL? If so, were they nice? Do they look better on TV or in real person? Or even if you haven't met them, I wouldn't mind knowing anything about the actors/actresses from articles, etc. in terms of what kind of people they are.
My first post!
By the way, I think Blair is sooo pretty. Damn her...
Ags2000 09-18-2006, 12:45 AM First off, welcome! We are glad to have you.
There a alot of people who have met the cast. A LOT of people met Lisa when she was going all over the US in her RV a few years ago. I'm one of those.
Lisa is a real down to earth EXTREMELY religious wife and mother. Her faith influences everything she does. She also has a great memory. I actually met her twice and she remembered me the second time. Severla people here have said that she has remembered them after meeting them once. That is SOME memory.
There are a BUNCH of posts about meeting cast members, feel free to browse the old posts and read the stories. Most people posted pictures whenever they met them.
Again, welcome.

folie_a_deux 09-20-2006, 01:51 AM I'm actually a new fan. I finished the first season and just started the second season and I'm hooked, and from what I've read, the show only gets better so I am totally excited to see the rest. I remember seeing the show when I was like six and being scared of Jo. I remember thinking "Why is she so mean?" Ha. I guess her sarcasm came off as anger to me when I was a kid.
It's strange because although I never really watched the show, I must have images of the characters in my subconscious from seeing them in the past when I was really young because every so often while watching it now, I'll see one of the characters and sometimes get this deja vu feeling. Spooky... ;)

I'm a pretty new fan myself. The only episodes that I watched when the series was in first run (I was only three years old when FOL premiered in 1979) were "The Apartment" and the series finale. I was a huge fan of Diff'rent Strokes and loved Mrs. Garrett on that show (she was easily the best of the three housekeepers), but I just never got into Facts.
I remember about a year ago someone telling me that I should give FOL a try since Jami Gertz was on it for a season (I LOVEEEEEE Jami! :D ) but my whole additude was like "Yeah. Sure. Whatever." Than last December I decided to give Facts a try and I just fell in love with the show. I love how the show mixes comedy and drama. And the characters are great...especially Jo and Blair.

I read the thread about you meeting Lisa! So cool. :) I can't believe I found the page the thread was on. I just chose a page to read and it was there. What a fluke.
julian bozo 09-24-2006, 07:45 AM I met Lisa Whelchel twice. She is a very nice lady. I also met her husband Steve and saw her son Tucker. I got her autograph and picture taken with her both times. The first time I made her a Blair doll. She put it on her website. The 1st time was at a Christian Book store signing. The second wasa an Enrichment event.
ABlairican Pie 09-25-2006, 11:26 PM I've met Lisa on a number of occasions, in 1987-88, and in 2001 and 2002 during some of the most devastating times of my life. She has always been my biggest inspiration, her faith is so infectious!!!
Nighthawk76 09-26-2006, 01:28 PM I hope that I get to meet Lisa someday. She seems to be a truly amazing human being with a really big heart.
FolFanatic151 09-26-2006, 05:03 PM I've met both Lisa Whelchel and Kim Fields, and they are both absolutely delightful, lovely women.

Every once in a while I get a message from her mother in-law, like on Lisa's birthday in May. Two years ago her mother in-law was very supportive of me when my mother passed away.

parisfourhundred 09-29-2006, 08:50 PM In 2002, I was in a building on 57th Street and had stepped into the elevator to go down to leave. As the doors were closing some slammed their hand into one of the doors to keep it from closing - she came into the elevator and hastily asked me if the elevator was going up. I told her it was going down, and boy did that piss her off; she lost the plastic smile she was wearing and and stepped away from the elevator in a huff. After the doors closed I realized I knew her from somewhere.
It was Felice Schachter.
Why did the only meeting with the object of my affections in the 5th grade have to be so negative?!

Maybe she was just having a bad day.

Yeah, she probably was. I hold nothing against her, though. I was laughing after it was over. She's a schooteacher in the Bronx where I live so I'm always on the lookout when I pass a school. LOL
JNSBSB 10-01-2006, 12:02 AM I met Lisa Whelchel once (by accident, btw), I'm thinking while she was doing her year-long RV tour. And it wasn't the type of meeting where we talked or I got an autograph from her, either. We happen to be passing right by her RV while on some interstate in Texas, and me, being the type of person who gets curious and looks to see how many people are in each vehicle passing by us, I was able to spot Lisa as well as her husband Steve and their 3 children. So my encounter wasn't an actual meeting. More like a sighting, instead.
MrsGarrettRocksMySocks 10-01-2006, 12:07 AM I made Lisa a scrapbook...oh, goodness---was that '03? Maybe? ahhh! I don't even remember. craziness! But I remember being excited 'cause she mentioned me in her journal! haha.
completely OT:
hey, mizpink, LOVE the avatar...
I'm a SLIGHT Mrs. G fan, myself. IN case you couldn't tell...
Nighthawk76 10-01-2006, 04:08 PM Yeah, she probably was. I hold nothing against her, though. I was laughing after it was over. She's a schooteacher in the Bronx where I live so I'm always on the lookout when I pass a school. LOL
Maybe you will run into her again sometime. :)
Nighthawk76 10-01-2006, 04:09 PM I must be the only one here who has not met Lisa.
Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 10-01-2006, 06:10 PM I must be the only one here who has not met Lisa.
I haven't met her either, but I'm always looking at her schedule to see when she will be in this area, if she ever will. If she is, I will def go!:D
Nighthawk76 10-01-2006, 06:20 PM I haven't met her either, but I'm always looking at her schedule to see when she will be in this area, if she ever will. If she is, I will def go!:D
Yeah, me too. :D
JO jr 10-06-2006, 04:07 AM Yeah, me too. :D
CAN I GO WITH YOU GUYS? I PROMISE I'LL BE REAL GOOD, AND...OH, WHO AM I KIDDING? I AM JO jr. YOU KNOW I'M MISCHIEVIOUS, AND ALL THAT FUN JO STUFF.
WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S CRAZY? SINCE I HAVEN'T MET ANY OF THEM EITHER,:( WHEN I WENT TO CALIF RECENTLY, I TRIED TO FIND THEIR ADDRESSES ON A GREAT PEOPLE FINDER SITE. I COPIED DOWN POSSIBILITIES, BUT AS IT GOES, THE PEOPLE I WAS TRAVELING WITH DIDN'T GO NEAR ANY OF THOSE PLACES. SO NOW, THINKING LISA MAY BE IN ANOTHER RV, EVERYONE I PASS, I LOOK TO SEE IF I RECOGNIZE HER OR HER HUSBAND.
OK-WANT TO HEAR SOMETHING EVEN MORE CRAZY? IF NOT, DO NOT READ FURTHER!
ALL RIGHT, HERE GOES: I'M THINKING THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET MY BELOVED FACTS GIRLS TO A TRUE REUNION, MRS. G INCLUDED, IS TO PUT THEM IN MY WILL. THE STIPULATION IS THAT THEY ALL HAVE TO BE AT THE READING, WORKING WITH THEIR SCHEDULES, OF COURSE. THEN I WOULD LEAVE THEM SOMETHING, WITH MAYBE A LITTLE VIDEO OF THANKS AND TO LET THEM KNOW THAT DOING THIS SHOW WAS NOT IN ANY WAY VAIN. THEN I'D MAKE SURE I MENTIONED THIS SITE AND INCLUDE SOME PAGE EXCERPTS FROM IT:)
BETTER YET WOULD BE TO HAVE THE WILL READ AFTER MY VISITATION, OR WAKE. I'D MAKE SURE YOU GUYS WOULD KNOW ABOUT IT, SO IF ANYONE WANTED TO SHOW, IT COULD BE A THREE RING CIRCUS-HAHA. CREEPY? MAYBE. LIKELY? PROBABLY NOT. BUT HECK, IF I COULD BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN FACTS OF LIFERS AND MY GIRLS, WELL, THAT'S THE BEST LAST DEED THAT I WOULD BE PROUD TO DO.
OK-I'M READY FOR THE FEEDBACK. AND NO, I'M NOT A STALKER, BUT JUST PMS'ING AND IMAGINITIVE. ALSO VERY GRATEFUL TO FACTS FOR HAVING A HUGE IMPACT ON ME GROWING UP IN A TUMULTUOUS LIFE, AND FOR BEING ABLE TO IDENTIFY WITH THE KIDS WHO LATER BECAME YOUNG LADIES WHOM I CONSIDERED WONDERFUL ROLE MODELS, WHO TURNED INTO CLASSY WOMEN.
FUNNY, I JUST THOUGHT OF WHEN NANCY SAID SHE WOULD COME TO THE REUNION IF SHE DIRECTED IT AND/OR JO WERE DEAD. WELL...WHAT ABOUT JO jr? WHEN THE TIME COMES, HOPEFULLY NOT SOON AT ALL, MAYBE LIFE WILL IMITATE ART. JUST NOT IN THE WAY NANCY THOUGHT OF:cool:
Troi Tribble 10-26-2006, 05:50 PM I haven't met any of the cast, but I wish I could. ESPECIALLY THE FIRST SEASON GIRLS!!!! I miss them! They don't act anymore! :(
Scoobiedoo30 11-18-2006, 12:21 PM Sorry to say I have not et The Cast of The Fact's of Life
AllHempedOut 11-20-2006, 03:20 PM hey yall! I'm new here...kinda. I was a member about 4-5 years ago but completely forgot my name and password so...here i am! I'm a huge Facts fan and have been since I first saw it on Nic at Nite when I was in 7th or 8th grade.
I was *THIS* close to getting to meet Lisa this last weekend! She was speaking at a church about 15 minutes from me. I was planning to go, but my best friend (who was going to take me) got really sick so we couldnt go! I was pretty bummed...I respect and admire that woman so much!
