View Full Version : UM Trivia Questions
crystaldawn 09-17-2006, 04:57 PM I thought it would be fun for us hard core fans to test how well we know UM so I thought we could all post some trivia questions and see if anyone here knows them. A few suggestions. Only post the question and not the answer on the initial post so everyone will get a chance and see if they can guess it. Then after some guesses are made, if the answer is still in question, then the true answer can be revealed. Another suggestion is to make sure when you ask a question that you know the answer so you can verify if someone gets it right. I'll start if off:
What else did Matthew Chase's roommate ask him to pick up when he left to deposit his check in the ATM?

A pack of cigarettes and a Playboy? Seriously, I don't know. What I DO know is that this is a great idea for a game. :)

No but good guess. I'll see if anyone else wants to guess the answer before I say. Meantime cricci I'm sure you can think of some good trivia questions so give it a shot. :)
wiseguy182 09-17-2006, 09:13 PM I believe it was cat food. Cool idea for a thread, I'll have to think hard and come up with some questions.

Good job wiseguy! :clap Yes please do think of some.
crystaldawn 09-17-2006, 09:29 PM Okay another one but this isn't too tough.
What was missing from Perman Gilbert's body that the killer may have taken, possibly as a momento of the crime?
kadrmas15 09-17-2006, 10:04 PM His wallet containing the symbol of the masons and his masonic belt buckle I believe.
kadrmas15 09-17-2006, 10:09 PM Here is one, kind of an easy one: How much did John Mooney pay Elmo Florence to kill T.K. Hardy?
wiseguy182 09-18-2006, 02:53 AM Here is one, kind of an easy one: How much did John Mooney pay Elmo Florence to kill T.K. Hardy?
I remember it wasn't much, I believe it was $100. Did Elmo ever serve time for that btw? I remember Mooney was caught but escaped.
Here's a question: What television show did Michael Scott Martin claim he and his neighbor were watching during the time the gas station was being held up? (p.s. I wonder if that was ever investigated. They could have asked him questions about the episode, that might have been enough to clear him. It wasn't discussed in the segment.)

Was it Battlestar Galactica?
HyeTev 09-18-2006, 11:47 AM This one's easy...
What were the only things missing from Stanley Gryziec's home after he was killed?
justins5256 09-18-2006, 02:31 PM What psedonym was Ed Walters given in the first report about his photographs of the UFOs over Gulf Breeze?

LOL
Liar??
Good job Kardmas about the Masonic belt buckle.
HyeTev I believe the only thing missing was a couple of beers from Gryziec's home....right??
HyeTev 09-18-2006, 04:05 PM Right, just a couple of beers. Weird one indeed. Who really knows why except perhaps all that ransacking the assailants did caused them to have a huge thirst.
Hard to know anything about this case since important evidence seems to have vanished...
kadrmas15 09-18-2006, 04:17 PM Well according to the UM segment John Mooney paid Elmo Florence only $125 dollars to kill T.K. Hardy. Also to answer your other question Wiseguy yes Elmo Florence and John Mooney were both sentenced to life in maximum security prisons in Georgia. Florence is still in prison all these years later and never escaped. To this day he is in a maximum security prison and will be 75 years old next month. John Mooney was also sentenced to life in a maximum security prison but after only 3 months in a maximum prison he was transferred to a minimum security prison where as you mentioned about a year and 3 months after he was transferred there he escaped. Mooney I believe was re captured in 1989 after being profiled on UM. Mooney was taken back to Georgia where he remains in prison and he is not in a maximum security prison even now but is in a medium security prison. Mooney is now 58 years old. By the way Mooney and Florence are both parole eligible but have been turned down many times. Mooney I believe was last denied parole in 2002. Also it interesting to note that the same prison Mooney escaped from in March of 1980 the minimum security Wayne Correctional Institution was the same prison that William Jordan would escape from in August of 1984.

What mental illness was Ron Argenti's wife/girlfriend suffering from when she was living with him?
AND
In what mid-western city was Gordon Weaver's parents' car found abandoned?
Awsi Dooger 09-19-2006, 01:46 AM OK, name UM segments with a connection to these fast food joints:
* Burger King
* McDonalds
* Hardees
* Carl's Jr.
* Arbys
There may be more than one segment with a connection, in some cases. And the info may not always be in the UM portrayals. This thread is disgustingly biased toward posters who have the segments on tape so I'll drift from that here and require specialized knowledge regarding at least one or two.
kadrmas15 09-19-2006, 02:41 AM Well there was a McDonald's restaurant involved in the Doyle Wheeler case about the shooting that went on there and how Doyle Wheeler suffered a nervous breakdown because of it and had to retire from the police force because of emotional and mental problems.
wiseguy182 09-19-2006, 06:02 AM Was it Battlestar Galactica?
Ding, ding. 'Twas Battlestar Galactica.

Wow, that's a tough one. I can recall a segment about a drug dealer named Elmer, who was running a drug lab or something with 2 other people when all 3 were caught. Their bond was set at a really high amount, and his brother and parents put up their houses for mortgages and his parents dipped into their savings on top of that, in order to post bond for all 3. They then promptly vanished, violating the rules of the bond. Elmer was caught at a McDonalds in Las Vegas. It was in time so that his parents could keep their house, but his brother lost his.
I couldn't tell you about Carl Jr.'s, I don't think we even have any here in MI that I'm aware of anyways. I wanna say Paulette Hyte of the social security murders was also caught at a fast food joint, but I'm not sure which one or even in the segment stated.
crystaldawn 09-19-2006, 10:03 AM Well knowing Awsi I wouldn't be too suprised if he made up the majority of the restaurants listed and they actually aren't involved in UM segments although I do remember the McDonald's reference in the Doyle Wheeler segment. Just a hunch. But I have thought of another restaurant involved in a segment and you guys see if you remember which segment:
Applebee's
mercy1825 09-19-2006, 11:47 AM Applebee's,
The murder of the secratary named Joan Jefferies I believe, with the obvious suspect being her boss, can't remember his name. And that is straigt from memory, no video tapes.:)

Good job Mercy! :)
LooksLikeCRicci 09-19-2006, 12:09 PM Adam and Elena Emery ate their last meal at a Burger King, if my memory serves me correctly.
AND... I want to say that although it wasn't totally mentioned, didn't Rachel Timmerman work at McDonalds? Look back at the segment and her father says something like, "Why would she want to take a vacation? She just got the job at Mc...the restaurant..."
LooksLikeCRicci 09-19-2006, 12:16 PM Also... April Gregory worked at Hardee's and was supposedly on her way to work before she disappeared.
crystaldawn 09-19-2006, 01:45 PM What was Kathy Hobb's going to the convenience store to buy when she was abducted and murdered?
In the Angelo Desidari case what two food items did they show in the kitchen indicating that Angelo had left his home abruptly?
In the case of Aileen Conway what was found on the ground near the crash site that lead investigators to believe that her windows were rolled down (which was very uncharacteristic for her) at impact?
kadrmas15 09-19-2006, 04:58 PM Kathy Hobbs was going to the store to buy a book because she had just got done reading a book and wanted to buy another one.
rerungirl 09-19-2006, 05:42 PM More Kathy Hobbs questions...
What business was she hoping to start one day and what was she going to name it?

I'm not sure which fast food joint was shown in the Dave Bocks case, but it was some hamberger joint.
McDonald's-Elmer Locker Jr.

A beauty hop called "Kat's Cuts".

1. Some bread or something.
2. I believe they showed a pot with steamed vegetables. Something green. And some bread/sandwich.
3. A church flyer
Also on one of the other questions regarding the fast food restaurants, wasn't Hardees where they arrested that Canadian bank robber Charles Boomer?
wiseguy182 09-20-2006, 03:28 AM Wanna say Wendy Camp also worked at a fast food restaurant where she met Chad Noe. Does anybody know which one?
Here's one: which of the five Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie or Superior) did Debby and Larry Race take their ill-fated voyage?
Awsi Dooger 09-20-2006, 03:44 AM Wow, that's a tough one. Yes, that was the McDonalds connection I had in mind, although I knew there were others.
Awsi Dooger 09-20-2006, 03:46 AM Also on one of the other questions regarding the fast food restaurants, wasn't Hardees where they arrested that Canadian bank robber Charles Boomer?
I think that was at Tim Horton's, which is a Canadian donut/coffee chain.
Awsi Dooger 09-20-2006, 03:51 AM Adam and Elena Emery ate their last meal at a Burger King, if my memory serves me correctly.
Bingo. And I was certain that would be the first one identified. In fact, I think I have a standing offer of lifetime Whoppers (no disgusting cheese) to all the posters on this board if Adam Emery shows up alive, well and just a bit damp.
Awsi Dooger 09-20-2006, 04:03 AM What was Kathy Hobb's going to the convenience store to buy when she was abducted and murdered?
Well, it's apropos you mentioned Kathy Hobbs because that's the Carl's Jr. connection. It wasn't included in the UM segment but I know I wrote about it on this forum. There is a Carl's Jr. on the corner of the lot where she was abducted.
In fact, it virtually conceals the view of the major road called Maryland Parkway. I wouldn't be surprised if the kidnappers chose that spot partially because of the cover provided by the Carl's Jr. The east/west road Kathy Hobbs walked to get to the grocery store is dark and not well traveled. The parking lot is huge but it's not far from Maryland Parkway, which is the cross street. Without that Carl's Jr. there, traffic in both directions would have a direct view of that lot and an abduction would be much more dangerous. But since the restaurant is there and was there at the time, late '80s, the front of the grocery store (now an Office Depot) is almost impossible to see unless you look northwest while heading north on Maryland Parkway. And even then, the window of opportunity to see anything is very brief. The seating is on the opposite side of the restaurant from where Kathy Hobbs was abducted. Only someone from the drive-thru would have had any opportunity to notice.
Also, to be specific, I think Kathy Hobbs was going to buy a romance novel.
Awsi Dooger 09-20-2006, 04:27 AM Also... April Gregory worked at Hardee's and was supposedly on her way to work before she disappeared.
Huh. I thought that was a brown McDonald's uniform but you might be right it was Hardees. If it was Hardees that's not the connection I was looking for. Let's see if someone can come up with the other segment involving Hardees, an oft-discussed bizarre case.
I'll give the Arby's connection because it's admittedly more obscure and I don't think UM mentioned it in the segment. Lisa Marie Kimmell worked at Arby's and I believe she left directly from Arbys on the illfated drive to see her boyfriend. I think Sheila Kimmell was regional manager at Arby's at that time, and the chain started a reward fund when Lisa went missing. I remember reading that info when shek's book came out.
crystaldawn 09-20-2006, 07:19 AM In the Charles Holden/Dorothy Donovan segment I always thought it looked like a Hardees he was at when the hitchhiker approached him.
Yes I was going to mention that too, Lisa and Sheila Kimmell both worked at Arby's.
Awsi Dooger 09-20-2006, 01:40 PM In the Charles Holden/Dorothy Donovan segment I always thought it looked like a Hardees he was at when the hitchhiker approached him.
Yes I was going to mention that too, Lisa and Sheila Kimmell both worked at Arby's.
Yep, that's what I was looking for. Some of the newspaper and online accounts say it was a Hardees where the nutcase approached customers in the parking lot, and where Charles Holden agreed to give him the ride in his truck.
mphs95 09-21-2006, 02:34 PM Wiseguy, I don't think there are any Carl Jrs in Michigan. I have never seen one, and I have been all over both peninsulas
HyeTev 09-21-2006, 02:39 PM Wiseguy, I don't think there are any Carl Jrs in Michigan. I have never seen one, and I have been all over both peninsulas
They are found primarily in the western US.
LooksLikeCRicci 09-21-2006, 03:30 PM Aren't Carls Jr. and Hardees ran by the same chain of restaurants? I thought they both had the trademark of the smiling star... very off topic, but I'm curious. :)
wiseguy182 09-21-2006, 04:46 PM Nobody got my question about which of the 5 Great Lakes Debby and Larry race went on, so I'll tell you: it was Lake Superior. In retrospect, that may be a a bit of a local question as I'm from Michigan.
crystaldawn 09-21-2006, 05:03 PM 1. Some bread or something.
2. I believe they showed a pot with steamed vegetables. Something green. And some bread/sandwich.

Also on one of the other questions regarding the fast food restaurants, wasn't Hardees where they arrested that Canadian bank robber Charles Boomer?
The first answer was a romance novel. Second you're right I believe it was asparagus on the stove and something that resembled lasagna in the microwave. Third you're right again.
Wiseguy your question about where Wendy Camp worked when she met Chad Noe. I know they were serving ice cream so I'll guess Dairy Queen.
Awsi Dooger 09-21-2006, 06:21 PM Aren't Carls Jr. and Hardees ran by the same chain of restaurants? I thought they both had the trademark of the smiling star... very off topic, but I'm curious. :)
Yes, Carl's Jr. took over Hardees several years ago, maybe late '90s. They didn't change the Hardees name but some aspects were incorporated, like the smiling star and charbroiling the burgers.
I'm in the West where we have Carl's Jr. but not Hardees. It's been several years since I've been to a Hardees and I'm not sure if Carl's Jr. changed the names of the Hardees burgers, to things like Famous Star and Super Star, which are from Carl's Jr. Hardees used to have something called the Big Deluxe which was their version of a Whopper or Big Mac.
I like Carl's Jr. dating to my college days in Los Angeles, but it's expensive for a fast food chain. Maybe that has been transferred to Hardees also.

Awsi Dooger 09-26-2006, 06:46 AM Here's a question: Which murder victim was rumored to have a tattoo of an exotic flower on her inner thigh?
Elizabeth Short.
OK, here's one: Name a 20ish woman -- other than my avatar or my previous avatar -- who does not have a boring cliche tattoo above her ass.
Sorry, my mistake. There is no one who fits that answer. At least not here in Las Vegas.

I don't think any tatoos are necissarily boring. If anything, they're an expression. But, I don't have one myself......yet!
Apart from that, my guess would be Kristi Krebs and a few other women profiled on UM.....
Here's one:
What supermarket was Kevin Poulsen apprehended at the final time?
An easy one.

Not so easy. I wanted to say Ralph's since that's a prominent California grocery chain but I remember from the episode that it's not Ralph's, but something similar. Damn. It's a guy's name, and short, but I can't come up with it.
Well, I find the rear-awning tattoos to be incomparably tedious. Look at me, I'm a clone! Even if technically they are unique, the placement makes them all the same, as far as I'm concerned. Now, a subtle one on the side or the abs or nearby, that could be intriguing.:D
And I'd like to corner the market on tattoo removal procedures in 30 or 40 years, once the women aren't so young but considerably wiser.
HyeTev 09-27-2006, 12:10 PM What supermarket was Kevin Poulsen apprehended at the final time?

Blair Adams........

Yes Wiseguy you were on the right track. It was an earring of a bat carrying a skull.
As for my second question that no one got it was the Lee Selwyn segment. It was a quote from the biker who was the real target of the driver's "road rage".

Okay my guesses are Oregon for #1 and Sardinia, Italy for #3. Am I right?
Good questions btw. :)
wiseguy182 10-12-2006, 12:28 AM Okay my guesses are Oregon for #1 and Sardinia, Italy for #3. Am I right?

Thanks, CD:wave:
You could be right with Sardinia, Italy. I thought I heard them say Sorrento, Italy, but Sardinia and Sorrento sound a lot alike, so Sardinia is possible. You had a good guess with Oregon as Franke was in charge of their prison system, but he was actually the Deputy Attorney General of another state - New Mexico.
I'll give everyone a little more time to see if they can get #2 and #4.
greatgarrett2 10-12-2006, 03:31 PM Thanks, CD:wave:
You could be right with Sardinia, Italy. I thought I heard them say Sorrento, Italy, but Sardinia and Sorrento sound a lot alike, so Sardinia is possible. You had a good guess with Oregon as Franke was in charge of their prison system, but he was actually the Deputy Attorney General of another state - New Mexico.
I'll give everyone a little more time to see if they can get #2 and #4.
I don't know the exact town for #2, but I believe it took place in Humboldt County, CA?
And, yes, robbieasbury, it was Houston, Friendswood to be exact.
wiseguy182 10-12-2006, 04:45 PM I don't know the exact town for #2, but I believe it took place in Humboldt County, CA?
It's possible. I don't know the county, but it said that Donny was visiting from the city of Fortuna.
And the answer to #4 - what newspaper was mentioned in the Charlie's newsstand segment - The San Francisco Bee.
greatgarrett2 10-15-2006, 12:08 AM Here's another question:
What mental illness was Robert (Ron) Argenti's live-in girlfriend supposedly suffering from when they lived together in Mesa, AZ?
wiseguy182 10-16-2006, 06:37 AM Who was the Guest of Honor when Dennis Walker opened up his sports memoriblia shop in Oregon?
robbieasbury 10-16-2006, 11:16 AM Pete Rose.
robbieasbury 03-01-2007, 01:52 AM Anybody know the assumed name Steven Hadley used when he was arrested in Houston?
Awsi Dooger 03-01-2007, 08:46 AM And the answer to #4 - what newspaper was mentioned in the Charlie's newsstand segment - The San Francisco Bee.
I just looked at this thread for the first time in months. When I saw wiseguy182's question about Charlie my guess was the Sacramento Bee, since that's where he had the newsstand and the Bee is the major daily newspaper in Sacramento. The San Francisco papers are the Chronicle and Examiner.
Awsi Dooger 03-01-2007, 08:56 AM OK, what UM segments had a connection to the two most recent cities that hosted Winter Olympics? There are more than one with a connection to the 2002 host city.
AVERMAN 03-01-2007, 09:09 AM William Bradford Bishop?? The guy who killed his family in the US then fled to Italy and was found 2 yrs later by a friend?
Awsi Dooger 03-01-2007, 11:33 PM William Bradford Bishop?? The guy who killed his family in the US then fled to Italy and was found 2 yrs later by a friend?
You've got the right country but I don't know that Bishop had a connection to the specific city from 2006. If I mention the city that might give it away.
The 2002 host was Salt Lake City. I can think of two UM segments with a Salt Lake City connection, although there may be others. Hint: one fugitive was captured in Salt Lake City and another famous crime spree had one of its most significant events in Salt Lake City.
wiseguy182 03-05-2007, 07:45 AM OK, here is a doozy of a trivia question for you all: What was the first segment you posted about on this forum? No cheating. ;)
I guessed Roy Caffey, and a little checking places reveals that I'm right (not to brag.)
Awsi Dooger 03-05-2007, 08:40 AM Well, nobody took a bobstab at my Winter Olympics questions. I thought the 2006 site was the easy one. Hosted by Torino, Italy. That's the English version of Turin, as in the Shroud of Turin.
LooksLikeCRicci 03-05-2007, 11:32 AM OK, here is a doozy of a trivia question for you all: What was the first segment you posted about on this forum? No cheating. ;)
I guessed Roy Caffey, and a little checking places reveals that I'm right (not to brag.)
Because it's my favorite segment, I'm gonna jump out on a limb and guess Angela Hammond. I'll post back if I'm correct... :)
UPDATE: Nope, I was wrong. It was Amy Billig, followed by a post about Gilbert Ortiz. Surprising. Great questions, Wiseguy182! :)
Awsi Dooger 03-07-2007, 01:44 AM Geez, no one guesses around here. Answering my own question, I can remember two cases with a Salt Lake City connection. That's the 2002 Winter Olympic host city.
Rick Church was captured after spotted working at a Salt Lake City fast food restaurant, and one of the Unabomber's most famous and deadly events was in a Salt Lake City parking lot. That's when he left the piece of wood in the parking lot and was spotted by a worker through a window. The piece of wood exploded and blew a hole through the person who picked it up, maybe the owner of the business, which was a computer store.
That event was responsible for the famous Unabomber sketch with the hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses.
greatgarrett2 03-07-2007, 01:56 AM Here's a question:
In what major US city was the young woman who said she'd never make it past sixteen? She had a premenition and actually made it a few months past sixteen......
Awsi Dooger 03-07-2007, 04:32 AM Here's a question:

That was a few miles from here in Las Vegas. I'd take a few pics of the site where Kathy Hobbs was abducted but my old camera is all but gonzo. BTW, my Amazon shopping cart that I'm nickeling toward includes a digital camera so the photos may follow once I get there. Tonight, another 40 cents. :D

Right! Yeah, I guess you'd be not far from it......
wiseguy182 05-03-2007, 02:38 AM Bumping up one of my favorite threads.
Okay, I realize the odds of somebody getting this one right are about one in 1400, but I thought it was a cool question to ask nonetheless:
What was the first segment that was ever discussed on this forum? (you can look up the answer after you guess if you wish, but no cheating!);)
LooksLikeCRicci 05-03-2007, 05:49 AM LOL. Answered this one already. It was Amy Billig. :)
A few fun speculations on my part:
Awsi-- I'm guessing D.B. Cooper
Dislimb-- Charlotte Pollis? *heeheehee*
Crystaldawn-- Wendy Camp
I'm sure I'm probably wrong here.. but I thought I'd take a stab at it. I'm curious to see what the answers ACTUALLY are. :)
wiseguy182 05-03-2007, 05:54 AM actually, this time around I asked what was the first case that was discussed on this forum overall. (all posters included). I'll give a hint: it's a UFO case.
LooksLikeCRicci 05-03-2007, 10:16 AM Ooh! Roswell!
wiseguy182 05-03-2007, 06:19 PM Ooh! Roswell!
OOh, good guess CRicci, but unfortunatley that's incorrect. sorry. I'll give everyone until tomorrow morning before I reveal the answer.
I realize it's a tough question. I think dynoguy and Kane were the only ones around when the forum debuted. But I thought it was an interesting bit of trivia nonetheless.
baton_man 05-03-2007, 09:24 PM What racing series did Jonathan Palmer race for?
microeconomia 05-03-2007, 10:29 PM OOh, good guess CRicci, but unfortunatley that's incorrect. sorry. I'll give everyone until tomorrow morning before I reveal the answer.

The "Radiation" UFO, when the ladies and the child suffered serious skin burns after stepping out of their car.
wiseguy182 05-04-2007, 12:13 AM The "Radiation" UFO, when the ladies and the child suffered serious skin burns after stepping out of their car.
Bingo.
LooksLikeCRicci 05-04-2007, 10:55 PM Wasn't Jonathan Palmer a Formula One racer? Not sure. :)

here are the answers:
Crystaldawn - Wendy Camp (you nailed it CRicci);)
Kane - Kurt cobain
Awsi Dooger - Lisa Marie Kimmel
Justins5256 - Eric & Pam Ellender
dynoguy88 - Orange Sock murders
Dislimb - Kurt Sova
Dark Dante - Amy Billig (popular segment it appears)
kadrmas15 - Angela Hammond
sorry I couldn't get around to everyone - but hey its finals week.
crystaldawn 05-07-2007, 07:29 AM Very impressed cricci that you remember I'm obsessed with the Wendy Camp case..... As far as Justin's being the Ellender case I wouldn't have even had to look that one up...:)
mphs95 05-29-2008, 02:56 PM I thought it would be fun for us hard core fans to test how well we know UM so I thought we could all post some trivia questions and see if anyone here knows them.
Cat food
mphs95 05-29-2008, 02:58 PM Here is one, kind of an easy one: How much did John Mooney pay Elmo Florence to kill T.K. Hardy?
$125.00. Cheap considering it costs more for a tune up these days to improve my gas mileage!
mphs95 05-29-2008, 03:01 PM What was Kathy Hobb's going to the convenience store to buy when she was abducted and murdered?
In the Angelo Desidari case what two food items did they show in the kitchen indicating that Angelo had left his home abruptly?
In the case of Aileen Conway what was found on the ground near the crash site that lead investigators to believe that her windows were rolled down (which was very uncharacteristic for her) at impact?
1. Kathy was going to buy another romance novel from the store
2. Okay, I know there was asparagus but I can't remember the other thing to save my life.
3. A church bulletin
mphs95 05-29-2008, 03:02 PM More Kathy Hobbs questions...
What business was she hoping to start one day and what was she going to name it?
Hey, I know I'm a bit late with these, but I am remembering the good old days.....
A hair salon called "Kat's Cuts"
mphs95 05-29-2008, 03:03 PM A beauty hop called "Kat's Cuts".
Mikki-Jo West was on her way to work the day she vanished. What did she do for a living?
She was an RN
mphs95 05-29-2008, 03:04 PM Wanna say Wendy Camp also worked at a fast food restaurant where she met Chad Noe. Does anybody know which one?
Here's one: which of the five Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie or Superior) did Debby and Larry Race take their ill-fated voyage?
Lake Superior. I live in MI...I better know that one! LOL
mphs95 05-29-2008, 03:05 PM I think that was at Tim Horton's, which is a Canadian donut/coffee chain.
I thought Boomer was caught at Harvey's
mphs95 05-29-2008, 03:07 PM Yes, Carl's Jr. took over Hardees several years ago, maybe late '90s.
Maybe that has been transferred to Hardees also.
mmmmmmmm......Hardee's. Got a few of them in Michigan. Good stuff
mphs95 05-29-2008, 03:11 PM You've got the right country but I don't know that Bishop had a connection to the specific city from 2006. If I mention the city that might give it away.

Salt Lake City....the Rachel Runyon case was there. The Unabomber squatted there.....Rick Church was captured there. Am I getting warmer?

synthisislab 05-29-2008, 03:39 PM I'm not sure which fast food joint was shown in the Dave Bocks case, but it was some hamberger joint.
McDonald's-Elmer Locker Jr.
The fast food joint in the Dave Bock's case looked like Krystal with some large cheesy looking burger sticker of some kind pasted on the logo to cover it up.
I have another McDonalds one: Doyle Wheeler
synthisislab 05-29-2008, 03:42 PM Right!

crystaldawn 12-15-2008, 10:57 AM I have another question and this is kind of a tough one. What was the name of Tom Young's dog whom he took with him up in the mountains (in the Keith Reinhard segment)? Also where did Tom Young tell people he was going right before he disappeared?

It seems like they were discussing a place for Deborah to live if I recall correctly. I seem to remember her pointing to something in a book and saying "thats what I want, I don't know if I can afford it". I may remember her friend saying that Deborah was interested in buying a house so I just figured it involved that. Anyone else remember that?

TracyLynnS 03-31-2009, 08:36 AM Wow, I could have sworn that they said almost the exact same thing in the Circleville segment.
Answer to your Stigmas question: Judith Hyams
I always thought it was Judith Hines. I had to go look up the correct spelling. I think I got the incorrect spelling of "Hines" from the letter that the person sent stating that she was dead.

Yep, that's the one.
I thought it was "Himes" for a long time until I looked up the case on unsolved.com. And it IS spelled Hines in that letter....speaking of which, wouldn't you be totally freaked to be the one who first opened that thing? It's like three or four lines long, typed, and creepily, eerily anonymous.
MegtheEgg86 04-01-2009, 11:52 AM Here are a few more, a bit more difficult:

Nope, that guess is wrong. Although her mother did say something similar when she was interviewed on a different show.
The person who made the above quote was Anthonette Cayedito's mom. (yes, I cheated again) And God bless that family. No one should have to suffer so much, desperately hoping that your child is being treated with compassion by her kidnapper.

There have been at least three people who have appeared in interviews on both Leonard Nimoy's "In Search of.." and Unsolved Mysteries. Who are they and what episodes of ISO and UM?
Hint- For one of them, the interview for both ISO and UM were almost earily verbatim.

That's Kurt Sova's father, referring to searching the ravine along Harvard Street for his son.

For real? That's what the guy called himself? Was there a logical reason for him to refer to himself that way? In the videos they showed of him, he just looked like some wannabe geek.

I'll never be able to guess this one. It's been soooo long since I've seen an In Search Of eppy. If nobody else steps up with any ideas, I think we're going to need hints. And considering the minds contributing on this board, that's sad.
justins5256 04-03-2009, 09:53 AM For real? That's what the guy called himself? Was there a logical reason for him to refer to himself that way? In the videos they showed of him, he just looked like some wannabe geek.
Yes, at the end of the original broadcast Robert Stack said the kid referred to himself as "the Fashion Man" on the tape. I don't think this portion of the video was ever played on television.
When the segment was syndicated by Lifetime, they added the update about the kid's arrest and deleted RS's closing comments.
Here's another trivia question about that episode:
What was the REAL name of the family who found the tape? Hint: it's not "Villa".
justins5256 04-03-2009, 09:56 AM I'll try one. (I hope this one hasn't been done already)

Hint- For one of them, the interview for both ISO and UM were almost earily verbatim.
One of them was Guido Valentich, Frederick Valentich's father. He was interviewed on the In Search of episode "UFO Australia" and again on Unsolved Mysteries.
His comments were very similar on both programs.
justins5256 04-03-2009, 09:58 AM Here's a question. I'll make it a two parter...
What popular men's cologne did the Boston Shopping Mall Rapist wear?
The composites of the rapist were different in re-broadcasts on Lifetime. What exactly was different?
Mastermind 04-03-2009, 11:11 AM I'll never be able to guess this one. It's been soooo long since I've seen an In Search Of eppy. If nobody else steps up with any ideas, I think we're going to need hints. And considering the minds contributing on this board, that's sad.
Tracy, there are a whole bunch of them on a certain unmentionable site on this board.
They even have the frightening Amityville Horror episode, which is a must watch.
As scary as UM could be, nothing beat ISO in terms frigtening music and atmosphere.
justins5256 04-03-2009, 12:02 PM The other "In Search of" and Unsolved Mysteries interviewee was Vernon Miller, a photography expert. He appeared in the In Search of episode "Ghosts in Photography" and on the Unsolved Mysteries episodes about the ghost photo taken in Fish Springs, Nevada and again in the episode about Dorothy Izatt's UFO photos.
Another ISO alum was Arlene Gall(sp?). She was interviewed about Ogopogo in "In Search of the Ogopogo Monster" and the Unsolved Mysteries episode about the same subject.
Yet another was Bigfoot researcher Peter Byrne. Interviewed three times on ISO in "The Abominable Snowman", "Bigfoot", and "Monster Hunters". Also appeared in the extremely rare film "Manbeast! Myth or Monster" which was almost a mini-biographical piece that borrowed footage heavily from the ISO episodes. Byrne was interviewed twice on Unsolved Mysteries. One episode pertained to the Yeti, another pertained to Bigfoot.

MegtheEgg86 04-08-2009, 01:25 PM Whose wild night out included a proposition of some good old fashioned “spaghetti makin”?
That would be Mr. Stephen Marks, from the Colleen Reed segment.
TracyLynnS 04-08-2009, 02:51 PM Name that fictional person: Who did Laura Law claimed rented the shed where the husband she murdered was being kept?
This was just on today and I must have missed who she named, (unless the spike version left that part on the cutting room floor), because she told the cops that she was renting the shed out, and she didn't have a key to unlock it.
Then she offered to arrange to have her renter come unlock the shed so the cops could search it. She hit the road before the "renter" came to unlock it. It took a few more months for the cops to get a court order to have it opened, and by that time Mr. Tlusty had been dead in there for about 10 months.
The part I don't get is why did she tell everyone that he packed a suitcase, took $73,000 in cash, and left on foot, leaving his car behind, (place giant red flag here) but then later changed her story to say that he was on an extended fishing trip in Canada, then avoided letting anyone in the shed, even when they asked for access to remove their belongings for 3 weeks straight, and STILL no one was getting a search warrant to scour that house for signs of foul play.
Two different stories can't both be true and the guy was missing for months without contacting anyone. Hello? How weird does it have to get before anyone gets suspicious?
wiseguy182 04-10-2009, 08:46 PM Justin got numbers 2 and 4 correct, but nobody got numbers 1 and 3, so here they are:

Nope, that was Dick Hansen's date's car. Veronica Jefferson was the young woman who was raped and killed after a trip to an Arlington, VA grocery store.

Roses Are Red
The Sky Is Blue
They Found Him Dead
And They'll Find You Too
what segment is that from?
Also what person featured on a UM segment is on the tv screen in the Dennis and Marilyn DePue story?
I know I'm late...I can't remember the young man's name that was missing, but he had long red hair and at the time was 17. The lady that got the threatning note worked in a music store and some strange looking guy came in and started talking about the missing poster in the window. Later she got that threatning note because i remember thinking:
Roses are Red
hmmm tell me some more
I would cap his a** if he didn't get the H---- out of my store... :D
but i just can't remember the young man's name
