Jack, that he was GAY???-lol Instead of all that lying and that he was married to Janet. Wouldn't it have been easier just to say-"Mom Jack is Gay! And then the parents would have not made a big deal about Jack Living there. It seemed like they had forgot how they got Jack to live there in the beginning-lol

Maybe they didn't know how they're parents would react to someone being gay. But it is funny that Janet's parents "acted" like they were happy when Janet said they were engaged. Then to find out the truth that Jack is the roommate, the parents were beyond happy.

That was because they thought that she and Jack were married and Jack was fooling around behind Janet's back with Shelly. (If you're referring to episode "Janet's Secret"?)

But the reaction should have been -"OH ok" if the parents was wondering why a straight man like Jack was living there. So saying he was gay should have made them feel a lot better

How could the parents believe Janet was married? They didn't get a wedding invitation. Never got a phone call saying she was married. They're not wearing wedding rings. Are they that dumb?

probably because the writers thought the episode wouldn't be very funny if they said that he's gay.

probably because the writers thought the episode wouldn't be very funny if they said that he's gay.

Well, then they could've figured out a way to make it funny.

Fortunately, for Jack and Janet, they are. Otherwise, Jack would have to borrow a couple of wedding bands from Larry. He's got a box full of them.
