I was just curious, how about a special title for members who have 100,000 posts and up? I know "Forum Legend" is the highest, but I think anybody who can reach 100,000 is extremely special and not many will acheive that.

When Solomon starts his debates, it's a sure way to rack up those posts!

Due to a problem in the board software, it is currently impossible to create new user titles after 65,536 posts.

I guess the software just assumes nobody would get up to that number.

Just because a rank can't be made at 100,000 doesn't mean it can't be made at 50,000

With all due respect to those who post in great quantities (it's great that you get involved), I find such a post total highly disturbing. I can just see these people lying in their deathbeds years down the road saying to themselves, "If only I had spent more time enjoying the outdoors rather than sitting on that damn computer."

well, the random board really does help a lot. although it's not just a board to raise your posts counts like some IDIOTS will suggest, it's basically like a chat room online, so it does add a lot to your post count. it wasnt for the random board id have a LOT less then 60,000 posts.

Well I guess it just depends on the person. For me that many posts is very hard to fathom. Then again I've never been an extremely talkative person and maybe that carries over into message boards as well.

it's sad that some members have actually posted in TV threads just to raise their post total instead of actually contributing to a TV discussion like they are going to get some kind of award from TJ when they reach a certain number-lol

It is not hard to fathom if you love to discuss serious issues, discuss a particular episode, have a debate on something, if you go to the random boards like Joe above said, post on the game boards, post on threads such as "The wrong answer game..." <<<<<<those kind of threads, if at least two people are going back and forth posting responses, that alone can raise your post count.

Also, it does add to your post count if you do just a smilie, or say
"I agree."

Let's not forget, with Solomon's threads, those threads alone can suck you right in to get into a lengthy discussion.

I say that the title for 100,000 posts should be "Forum Royalty" ;)

There was a time on the boards when I had the 2nd highest post count of anyone.

I don't even know if I'm in the top 50 now. Most of my posts weren't really contributing anything. But, I remember TJ saying that it was quality that truly mattered, not quantity. And it's true. IF you only have a few hundred posts - but they're of a high quality...well, to me that's better than having tens of thousands of posts that say nothing more than "Yep" or "I agree". Which is not to say that those are bad sentiments, or that just because you have a high post count that most of the posts are just filler - just that it's the quality that truly counts.

The fact is pretty much every forum on the internet has a ranking system based on post count. We just adapted ours to fit the fact that a couple of forums (Games, Random) generate huge post counts for the participants, so we altered the ranking scale to match.

No, it's not an option to make those threads not count towards post counts.
