Personally, I was kinda surprised at the relationship at first, but then after thinnking about it briefly, it didn't really faze me, knowing Todd.I think there was a chance that Gary might have known, but with the problems he was having, that even wasn't a guarantee.

my father's wife is convinced todd's relationship with dana is what led to his early hassles with the police. she thinks that somehow word leaked out that "America's Princess" was sleeping with her black male teenage co-star and at that time, interracial relationships still being taboo, they decided to screw around with todd for kicks. i dunno but...could be:rolleyes:

Yeah. I didn't know this either. They didn't even mention it on the E!THS, and they love scandal on that....I did like it that they really were best friends, even when they weren't sleeping together. Years later, they were still great friends. I got all teary when they showed them later on. LOL

Oh man! :( I missed the TV movie!! :( I started school this week, and am being bombarded with work already! :(

Well I watched the E!THS the night before the movie, just to see how many things they would mess up, but they were pretty accurate. Mostly everything mentioned in the E!THS was shows on screen. You can probably find alot of info about the movie online.

What makes you think Todd Bridges is telling the truth??? I read a story many years ago when Dana Plato was ALIVE and he said that he and Dana do NOT have that type of relationship.

Now that Dana is dead there is no one to respond to the accuracy of Todd's claims.

Dana Plato just didn't strike me as the kind of person who would have an interracial relationship especially back the. I'm not saying Todd is lying for sure but there is definitely a chance that he is lying.

Big 3 fan you have got to be kidding right? Why would Todd Bridges,a happily marrierd man with two kids fabricate a story about Dana? This is the same person who knew and loved her for more than half of her life.The movie aired over a month ago and not one member of the cast & crew or families of them have refuted anything in it.You think Danas' ex husband didn't know about her past relationships,as I am sure she knew of his? What exactly is the type of person who would date inter racially anyway? That is the type of thinking that led to Todd and Dana being so secretive.I have recently seen some old pictures of Dana slow dancing (as a teenager )with a Black guy whose face is cut off on the pic.There are also pics of them out together without Gary Coleman.One of my co-workers said she had heard about the two of them while the show was still on the air.They were romantically involved and it's OK,it only proves how good they were at acting.

I don't know why some fans of a show with racial harmony as it's theme is so uptight about this,lol. I hope I can attach these pictures. Todd and Gary knew Dana for twenty years,we didn't know her at all and I think it's pretty arrogant to think we the fans would know her better than them.

Well Big 3 nobody ever asked her about it.It was a secret while the show was on and when they were together after her divorce they were not really in the public eye that much. the Brady Bunch father being gay came out after he was gone too. You think the kids on that show didn't know about that? Todd has a book coming out soon about his life. The kids on Little House and Facts of Life probably knew. None of Danas' friends have said a thing. It's really not that hard to believe for me. Go to the Dana Plato memorial site and look at some of the pictures. Well, the main reason why I'm so dubious is because I read an interview with Todd Bridges AFTER Different Strokes ended and he was asked if he and Dana ever became intimate and he said "They didn't have that kind of relationship."

WHY would he say that if they were intimate at some point???

Unless they became intimate later on which is doubtful since Dana was married or seeing someone else at the time and so was he.

Plus, Todd obviously likes white women (he's married to one) so now that she's dead he can claim another feather in his cap without any rebuttal. I'm just saying that is a possiblilty so it is just speculation.

As far as the Facts of Life cast, etc. not saying anything about Todd's claims about Dana it just means that they are not confirming or denying it. Obviously it is possible since the cast don't know how Dana or Todd spent every minute of their lives but they have not confirmed it either. Frankly, even if they confirmed it OR denied it you can't be certain it was or was not true anyway.

The E channel story listed on the Dana Plato Memorial site is that something new or old? As far as Big 3's theory goes, you would have to have a very low opinion of Todd Bridges to believe that one. When is the movie coming out on DVD?

Dana Plato was straight up hot! Of course, it depends on which season we're talking about. Once they settled on the jeans and ponytail.... Plus, Janet Jackson?! Even Blair was hot before she porked out. If Todd Bridges DIDN'T get any, then he should be kicking himself in a big way! (But then, could that be motivation to lie?)

Two child stars doing each other would have been problematic if it had gotten out back then. The "interracial" aspect is a nonissue, what century are you folks living in? The LAPD may be racist, but the very idea of them even knowing about this or caring that much about "race mixin'".....

I always thought that there was, at least, a lot of sexual tension on the show. This new behind the scenes information increases my appreciation of the show immensely.

Blair was definitely hotter than Kimberly.

You think the race issue was a non factor in the seventies and early eighties? I don't know. It was one of many reasons Todd and Dana and everyone on that show kept quiet I think. Even in the shows scripts that was one aspect of race they never touched. You could maybe show a Black female with a White male onscreen(Like today) but not the reverse. I too seem to appreciate the show even more now lol. Todd Bridges autobiography is supposed to be made into a movie also. I wonder how Conrad Bain felt knowing about the kids troubles at home and Todd and Danas' relationship and keeping quiet all those years.
