Very good movie. I just watched it last night. Larry Fishburne and Angela Bassett are in it and the star of the movie is Keke Palmer. Keke's character was Akeelah and she entered into a spelling bee contest. She did well at the contests in California where she's from. She did so well, she got a chance to go to the finals in Washington DC to compete. I love the movie because it shows that a smart black girl from a bad neighborhood can be intelligent and do something with her life because i'm tired of seeing stereotype black movies of blacks in bad neighborhoods who can only seem to sell drugs, have babies and kill each other. Larry made Keke use proper english when she was around him because he didn't want her to talk ghetto because he was her spelling coach. Angela Bassett looked very good in the movie. She got it going on to be as old as she is.

I just saw this movie a few nights ago, and thought it was very good. It definitely gets my recommendation. Very touching film!!

Is this already out on DVD? I got curious to watch it ever since they did that campaign with Starbucks, which I never really understood. But I never heard about it again!

Yes it's already out on video. It came out August 29th.
