I have vague memories of these shows from childhood. I'm curious to know if anyone else watched the shows or has more information about them.
The first was called "Top Cops". It profiled police officers who went above and beyond to capture criminals or rescue people. The events were dramatized while the actual officer who was involved narrated. I remember one episode centered around the police officer who arrested Lee Harvey Oswald. I think he also witnessed the shootings of both Kennedy and Oswald. I remember another story about some Jamaican drug dealers in Florida (?) who were involved in a car chase with a guy who ripped them off for a substantial amount of money. The chase ended up leading them into the suburbs and past an off duty officer's house where he and his son were outside playing ball. The officer immediately jumped in his car and gave chase. The drug dealers ended up crashing their car and were apprehended. I can't recall what network this was on originally, but reruns occasionally popped up on UPN.
The second show was called "The Investigators" (?) and was a news type program on Fox that detailed various unsolved crimes or scandals. I remember an episode about the sex murder of Bob Crane (this would have been around the time of Carpenter's trial), an episode about audio recordings of the Robert Kennedy assassination that proved more than eight shots were fired, and yet another story about corruption in the prison system. The focus was on prison guards who sold drugs, stole from inmates, demanded sexual favors etc.
