View Full Version : TV LAND HAS ADDED A NEW PRPGRAM WHERE YOU CAN WATCH TV SHOWS UNCUT studd911 09-06-2006, 11:41 AM Hey hd fans did anybody see that new program the tv land added on there website where you can watch shows extened and uncut, wouldn't be nice to see happy days season 2 uncut i just wanted to point that out wayne 09-06-2006, 04:44 PM When is it? anglemark10 09-06-2006, 11:26 PM It's there 24/7. I think Daniel Boone is the only series of which they currently offer complete episodes. Geonsey 09-15-2006, 04:07 PM Hey... well i think that if TVLand would provide Happy Days uncut online this would have to be specially licenced from Paramount. There's still a licencing issue with them doing their DVD's (music needs to be cleared for the DVDs -- this is why no other seasons have been released, but season 2 is coming soon, i hear), and I would think the same issue would apply online. Plus some stupid rights management system probably needs to be secured before Paramount would do ANY online distribution. Just my opinion. robyrob 09-15-2006, 09:58 PM technically the music rights for dvd are completely separate from the tv rights for the program - which would've been part of the original agreement when they chose to use the songs on the show. the real question is whether TVLand has ACCESS TO uncut episodes - they most likely just have a set of syndication prints to air. anglemark10 09-17-2006, 12:09 AM I'm not sure if that's true. From what I've read, WGN's cuts are different from TV Land's. That would suggest that they get the full versions of the episodes and make their own edits. On the other hand, according to the Paramount Syndication Bible (www.paramounttv.com), the series is available in an already-edited format. I don't know which is right. wayne 09-22-2006, 09:29 PM There is another version of HD that I have seen locally that has several scenes that WGN and TVLAND won't show. Can another network pick up the show? I notice UPN has paid progams all night long! HD could fit in somehow. Geonsey 09-23-2006, 12:10 PM There is another version of HD that I have seen locally that has several scenes that WGN and TVLAND won't show. Can another network pick up the show? I notice UPN has paid progams all night long! HD could fit in somehow. I once compared the cuts from the wgn version to the tvland version. The cuts are virtually the same (also, wgn likes to put intersticials/promos over the program when it comes back from commercials and they squeeze the end credits with promos, both I can't stand). This suggests to me that the syndicated shows are the same for everybody. As for your UPN channels halting an income generating slot to fill with Happy Days? I doubt that UPN will agree without a lot of fans' phone calls to the station. wayne 09-23-2006, 06:48 PM How many people actually watch those paid programs on TV though? It makes no sense to have them on all night like that when they could show old TV shows instead! There are many episodes that I saw on ABC that have scenes that I have not seen since then. I was wondering why we need to see the entire opening theme song anyway? It lasts about 2 minutes each time and without that a network could show scenes there instead and make the shows longer. One thing I notice is that the first season has an average of 23 minutes long per show. But on TV we are lucky if we see a show lasting longer than 20-21 minutes. anglemark10 09-23-2006, 10:06 PM During the earlier episodes, especially seasons three and four, they do use a shortened version of the theme (51 seconds). The full theme (seasons 3-11) is only 1:12, though. |
