Petticoat Junction returns to Canadian Cable. It will air daily on TV Land Canada at 9:30am, 4pm and 8pm ET starting September 3rd.

Green Acres and The Beverly Hillibillies will continue air daily on DejaView at 1:00PM and 1:30PM ET.

It never was on TV Land Canada before, but it was on DejaView last year.

I think because the show is now owned by Paramount/Viacom, is the reason why TV Land Canada can air it.

...has ALWAYS been owned by VIACOM, 'jenya', ever since CBS spun off its "CBS Films" inventory of syndicated TV series (on orders of the U.S. Justice Department in 1971) into an independent company called..."Viacom". "PETTICOAT" was originally a wholly-owned CBS series {as was "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES", "HOGAN'S HEROES", "I LOVE LUCY", "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW", "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" and so on} and they had the right to syndicate it until 1971. Eventually, the independent company known as "VIACOM" swallowed up CBS in the late '90s, and now both are "separate" companies again.

...to find out if 'TV LAND Canada' is going to present the ENTIRE run of the series (including the first two seasons of black & white episodes, 1963-'65), or just the color episodes [1965-'70]? When 'TV LAND' {U.S.} played it, they usually showed the first episode, and possible a stray B&W episode or two, and merely concentrated on the last five [color] seasons. There were so many cast changes within the first three seasons (in particular, the ever changing faces of Bobbie Jo and Billie Jo!), it would be interesting to see the logical progression of HOW the show "settled down" by the start of the 1966-'67 season.

They are the same episodes that DejaView aired last year- which is just the coloured seasons.

The residuals on the color episodes ran out a long time ago, so CBS Paramount can sell the episodes without having to compensate the actors. The B&W episodes have, for the most part, never been rerun, so residuals would still apply. Therefore, it's more expensive to show them, and it's easier for CBS Paramount to sell the cheaper color episodes.

Too bad, because the B&Ws are generally the best era of the series.

CanWest Global (the owners of DejaView) emailed me last year on the subject of the B&W episodes and, said that a court case in California prevented them from purchasing those episodes, and they were only allowed to broadcast the coloured ones. I'm assuming TV land Canada faces the same issue as well.

if my memory is correct I think TV Land aired Petticoat Junction weeknight's at 5:30 pm CT Time.

Well, ME-TV in Chicago also airs it. I wish I had that channel. :(

Interesting - I've heard that this dispute is over ownership of those early seasons. Back before this case, TV Land (US) pretty much confirmed when they launched that the B&Ws were too expensive. But now those shows aren't available even if someone is willing to pay up. I bet when the case is resolved, though, there will still be an expense associated with the B&Ws, and that the color shows will be the ones that turn up.

I'm outraged that TVLand U.S. isn't showing the classics that I love. Nick@Night played the new stuff and TVLand was known for the true classics, not anymore though. I wished I lived in Canada.:mad: *shakes fist at TVLand*!

I agree totally Comedy Freak! Nick at Night and Tvland have been going down in a downhill spiral as far as i'm concerned the past few years. I used to watch both stations all the time.. now hardly at all. I would suggest looking at I TV network... that used to be Pax TV.. They are showing the Partrige Family , Green Acres, and the Monkees.. maybe more great classics will show up there like wonderful Petticoat Junction :)
