If you were a regular viewer of the Norman Lear sitcoms Good Times, The Jeffersons and One Day at a Time, those shows had one thing in common...each had a theme song with a gospel beat. Do you think that Norman Lear was a gospel music fan? My take is a show with predominately African-American characters would have a gospel like theme song to make the show more authenic to that ethnic group.
