I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago, actually. I just keep forgetting!

But anyway.... I have noticed that since earlier this month, stores are beginning to place Halloween candy and some of the decorations out in their respective aisles. I'm stoked! :D

pumpkin:

I love Halloween!! This year is going to be the first year in years I am excited about celebrating Halloween. Last year I was in Antwerp, Belgium. There were decorations, and I saw two little girls dressed up as witches. But they don't celebrate it like in the States.

The two or so years previous to last year I was depressed during Halloween. Various reasons I don't want to get into. So, I am looking forward to it this year!!

So, how are the stores looking in your neck of the woods?

YES!
I was thinking about starting a "Halloween Is Getting Close" thread, but I figured I better wait until others want to talk about it.

Yes, the stores out here, within the last week or so, have started to display Halloween items. "Party City" actually has a small Halloween area year 'round (my kind of store). :D

Anyway, let the (Halloween) celebration begin! :happyface

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I can't wait. Though I am out of good new ideas for this year. Will have to work on thinking up something.

Ohhhhh.... In the same plaza area where I went to watch "Click" at the cinema today already had this store where Halloween stuff is sold!! I think it was called "Halloween Spirits!" I had to look twice while I drove past it. Haha... I thought that was cool! I immediately smiled and made a mental note to make mention of it here. :D

Thanks for creating this thread, Mona! I was thinking about doing it myself as well ;) :D I love Halloween so much! It's one of those holidays that were a favorite as a kid and just carried in to adulthood, I guess.

Anyway, some of the stores around here are starting to put out their autumn/Halloween stuff! :woohoo: I've also been scoping out some costumes online since I am actually doing something for Halloween this year :D I'm working until 6 (and we're allowed to wear costumes at work! yay!), then heading out with a couple of friends for some fun.

These are some of the costumes I've been looking at. I have an idea about what I want, but there are just too many to choose from. I'm looking for something NOT too risque (since I'll be at work), yet still cute and attention-grabbing:

Here's a witch costume I really like and is reasonably priced:

I also love this devil costume and it's pretty cheap too!

http://www.buycostumes.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=27177&PCatID=adultcostumes&ccatid=adultpluswomen

Here's a gothic Alice in Wonderland, which I think is really gorgeous. I am leaning towards this choice, but I'm afraid people won't recognize me as Alice in Wonderland...I'll just look like some mall goth:

Which one do you think is nicest? I am stuck. I want to order a costume early enough before it goes out of stock.

I was out at our locat Target store here in Columbia Maryland (20 minutes southwest of Baltimore City), they are about 75% stocked for Halloween and about 50% for Christmas. Halloween has always been my favorite, the others like Christmas I can do without. Halloween has been more & more commercial in recent years, but nothing like Christmas.

Hmmm.... I took a look at all the costumes, and I think the most interesting one is the Malice in Wonderland. Yeah, I agree....it might not be the best one for work. I just liked the cool checkered tights. Haha....

I kinda already have in mind what I want to be for Halloween this year. I am looking into totally surprising a co-worker friend of mine by being a goth for a day! She says I have the perfect Snow White look (light skin, light eyes, and dark hair). I am so not a goth person, but I was thinking of just doing it for her on Halloween. I don't know yet, though. It might also not be too appropriate for my job either.

WOW, I didn't realize so many of you on here love Halloween so much!!! I do, too!! I decorate my house, inside & out, and make goody bags for the kids. For some weird reason, I like Halloween more as an adult than when I was a kid. Not to mention that in a few days, my favorite part of the year starts!!

Hey all...decided to bump this thread up again as Halloween approaches quickly. I finally bought my costume (this new Halloween store opened up near me and I wanted to take advantage of it before they sold out!) Here's a picture of my costume--I'm gonna be a cocktail bunny! :D

http://www.halloweenplus.com/index.cfm?Page=products&Nav=products&Category=800&Sub_Category=824&Product_Number=GC7688BK

It's not what I set out to be, but I really like how it looks on me and I think it's pretty cute. And I actually have plans this year! In the morning and early afternoon, I'll be handing out candy to all the kids that come by, then working from 2:30-6 (thank god we can wear our costumes there!) Afterwards, there's a huge party being thrown at a barn on really creepy piece of property that I was invited to  There's a barn there that has three seperate stables, and each stable has a different thing going on--one has the beer pong/card games, the other has the food, drinks, and dance floor, and the last has a t.v. set up that plays horror movies non-stop. There's a costume contest too :D I really can't wait! :woohoo:

I also made a Halloween playlist on my ipod to get me in the spirit of Halloween...yay!

Anyone else have any plans set? I know it's early, but I figured I'd ask :happyface

halloween = candy. that's all. otherwise it's just celebrating a pagan holiday by opening and closing the damn door every 1.0078 seconds for four straight hours and giving stupid kids my candy that we got to give to them but i want it for myself. they can buy their own candy. i shouldn't pay for some stranger's ****. i should start charging them.

Cool costume, Kristel! So, you went ahead and went in on a totally different direction than your original Halloween costume ideas, eh?

Cool plans, too! Gosh, it's still September, and I am already freaking out on Halloween plans. I would like to have some kind of get-together or hang out with friends or something. I know it's a little over a month away, but I want plans...

What kinds of Halloween songs do you have? As October comes, I will start to put some Halloween songs together. So far, I have Aqua's "Halloween," The Nightmare Before Christmas' "This is Halloween," and some other songs too. I just spaced some of them out.

 Thanks! Yeah, totally different idea indeed :) I was actually saying that to myself: 'Wow, another cutesy animal that I DIDN'T want to be!' I was a cat last year and was trying to stay away from being an animal again. But this worked out--it was fairly cheap and it fit me nicely :)

I hope you can find something fun to do :) I would be so depressed if I didn't have anything to do on my favorite holiday. Could you look in to local things? I know my area has hayrides, fairs, parties at various community centers, etc. Hopefully someone will join you :)

I have about 8 songs on my playlist as of now, comprising of horror movie themes and a few songs. Here's my playlist so far:

1.) 'Halloween' theme song
2.) 'Thriller'; Michael Jackson
3.) 'Poltergeist' theme song
4.) The Monster Mash (not sure who sings it)
5.) Freddy Kreuger's '1,2,3...' (dunno the name, just the words  )
6.) 'I Put a Spell On You'; Marilyn Manson
7.) 'Don't Fear the Reaper'; Blue Oyster Cult
8.) 'The Exorcist' theme song

Well, it's already officially October today - the month of Halloween. Yay!!

I hope you can find something fun to do :) I would be so depressed if I didn't have anything to do on my favorite holiday. Could you look in to local things? I know my area has hayrides, fairs, parties at various community centers, etc. Hopefully someone will join you :)
I suppose I could look into local things, but then it gets to be old always goina alone. I just wish someone would come along with me. Some of my friends have children, so they might be taking their kids out trick-or-treating or something. Other friends are either working or are pregnant. Not that being pregnant should an issue, but then they get fatigued easily. Well, I will just keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah, I forgot to also include that I have all three Poltergeist soundtracks, so I could include the scariest-sounding songs.

Ohhhhh..... can you send me "The Monster Mash" and the "Halloween" theme song? If you want any of the songs I have, I can send those over in return for you.
