I set up a trade with someone, not here.

And they wanted 2 sets, both rather large. 54 discs total.
One show was 20 discs, one was 34 -
I chose what I wanted, we touched base a couple times.
They asked details, and I had let them know the one set, was missing 6 episodes from completion -and they said that was fine-

I emailed them saturday telling them the sets are done- ready to go-
and they said, they found and setup a trade with someone who has the set, mine was missing the 6 of- and they are trading them for it, so they don't need the one set of 34 discs-

Ok..so ...I am annoyed to say the least. I chose about 9 things form them, so now since they dont' want the 34 that leaves me 20 to choose from, and none of them work out to 20, no matter how I do it. I either get part of one set, or so on.
And the kciker is they said, to let them know what 20 I want, and they will "get started"
I started on these 4 weeks ago-
So they haven't done a thing.
So I have 54 discs here, one set they don't want at all.
And they haven't made anything-
and just deicded to go ahead and get one from another- and made NO mention of it to me- at all till I emailed them I was done.

I would rather just keep my 54 and list them as already done and trade them out
then even deal with this person anymore...but I don't know if I am speaking out of anger

Anyone have any opinions on this?

This person isnt' on this site, they are on a yahoo site- and they haven't so far been listed as good or bad- they were going to send first- so I felt comfortable making the sets.

Sheesh

its a touchy thing
BUT if u had it 100% confirmed as a trade
they should have stuck to it
IF THEY WANTED TO BACK OUT
they should have emailed u BEFORE they did so NOT after they did a new trade and left u holding the bag

seems like u tried to work it out, and u r getting the shaft
i wouldnt trade for crap u dont want, just to keep them happy

if it were me, id post their info as a warning
maybe they didnt mean it to turn out bad
and maybe they are a good trader
but it sounds like they really gave u the shaft!

I agree. Once a trade is agreed upon, they should stick with it. They sound pretty smarmy to me.

well we all know sometimes things happen

i mean if someone wanted to swap me a show, 95% complete
and then 2 days later someone else has it COMPLETE
id prefer the complete
BUT the proper thing to do is Email the person IMMEDIATELY to see----
if something changes and u catch it early, u might be able to renegotiate without much fuss, IF the other party just started on the duping
BUT If u wait weeks and weeks until they are done, u REALLLLLLLLLLY need to stick to what was agreed on

just lamont, with a big mouth and his 2 cents

That is awful! That person should have asked you if you had made the copies already before agreeing to the other trade! And should never have backed out knowing that you already made the copies! :(

I wouldn't blame you for cancelling the whole thing and warning others!

What shows did you copy? Maybe someone else would want to trade for them...just so your time and money won't be totally wasted.

Sorry that happened to you Kim!

I say name and shame 'em. He/she should at least be offer to cover the discs you wasted.

If it were me, I'd cancel the whole thing, post a warning, and see if anyone wants to trade for the sets I made up.

A similar thing happened to me recently, I started making up a 17 disc set for someone on this board, then when I contacted her to see how things were going, she didn't reply, and I haven't heard anything since. The only reason I haven't posted a bad trader warning is because she is a minor, and I don't really think she knew what she was getting into.

i have two stages in the trade process

first stage--talk and info exchange--ask questions--nothing definate at this stage

second stage--confirmation--this is where we agree to the deal, and the other party emails back to say--DONE DEAL, and off we go to burner land and to the postal

its a bit anal, the way i do it, but there isnt any question about what party will supply which items to the deal

at any time before the confirmation, its just talk and no obligation what so ever, once the donw deal is agreed to, its on

i have very little issues with folks not following through

and whats the worst thing that comes up, they decide not to, well then i trade that item to the next person, or i drop it on the stock shelf and wait for the next call for it

im saying its not the end of the world if someone changes their mind

I would not worry about the 20 from them & set up a trade with someone else for the 2 sets that you burnt.
there should be some ettiquette involved, if the were going to get the set from you then they should have not setup the other trade or just gotten the 6 episodes from the other person. That's one of the reasons I stay away from trading on Yhaoo

Guess some people are on vacation or away from their computers. Somehow I haven't heard from a few too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they'll finally come thu.

I would trade the sets to someone else. In the meantime, I would "thank" him/her for making you waste your precious time making sets that you were prepared to send, when he/she did nothing in return.

is there any way you could get them to work the 6 missing eps into the deal to work out to 20?

...at least then you could trade that set as complete in the future *shrug*

here, here ! If you agree to a trade then you follow through regardless if you find something you like better. It is simple trading etiquette.

Blast them on Yahoo, wasting 20 dvds is slightly less frustrating than someone ripping you off for 20 but nonetheless a royal pain in the @$$
