According to my TiVo guide, the infamous "lost" episode of Mama's Family called "Gert Rides Again" is scheduled to air on August 29th at 8:30 PM on the "i" network. That's cool, considering TBS has not shown that episode in several years.

Cool beans.. I have all the eppys on tape from yrs ago so I have Gert Rides agian... Wonder why they never show that or the Family Fued one on Tbs in quite sometime??

Aaron, they actually DID air Gert Rides Again on TBS at one point, but that was a LOOOOONG time ago. I have a really crappy copy of that episode on tape from around 1999. Not to mention- my copy is not captioned either, and I would like to have a copy of that episode that is captioned. Then, I can really say I have all 130 episodes on tape. :) So I am guessing TBS has not aired the GRA episode since around 1999/2000.

I'm with Allison. I last recall Gert Rides Again airing between 1999 and 2001. Hard to pinpoint which. Regardless, it hasn't been shown in at least four/five years, so this is great news. I know it'll end up on DVD, but it's nice to see it air again.

Yep, it is. I watched it last night and I loved it! I've seen it before, but not recently. That musical chairs part is one of my favorite scenes, hehe.

Imogene Coca looked better in this episode with her hair uncombed than she looked on The Brady Bunch all dolled up. Mama has some great lines in this one!

While I haven't seen the episode I do already know what it entails. Basically Mama helps Gert springs back to her vibrant self, hence she rides again in a manner of speaking.

People use to say that if you fall off a horse you're suppose to get back on it and ride again. That's what I've always thought the title meant. Gertie gave up on life and then she decided to try again.

oh ok cool cause it had same almost title in All in the family titled Beverly rides again when Beverly lasiell returned and helped archie out with pull prank on pinky peterson.so that why im wondering. now i think about it this would made nice spin off of mamas family feautring Gert and her bf out of the nursing home and raising teenage kids of their own noisy neighbors.is gert stil alive
