GLENDALE, Calif. -- "The Sixth Sense" Oscar-nominee Haley Joel Osment was charged Thursday with misdemeanor driving under the influence.
In addition, the 18-year-old actor was charged with being under the age of 21 and driving with a .05 percent blood alcohol content, which is an infraction of the vehicle code.
Osment fractured a rib and hurt his shoulder in the July 20 car crash en route home in the La Canada Flintridge area.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 19 in Glendale Superior Court. He is scheduled to surrender for booking at a later date. The district attorney's office is asking that bail be set at $15,000.
If convicted, he's facing up to six months in county jail
Osment is set to appear in the upcoming "Home of the Giants."
In the film, he plays a high school journalist covering a basketball team as it heads toward the state championship.
