They actually were believable as father and daughter and really looked like they were related.

Rchard Roundtree was the guy who played SHAFT in the 70's.

Actually they did very well with casting all of the parents of the characters in this show- esp Art Evans as Ron's father- both short and had the same mannerisms, Diahann Carroll and Ron O'neal as Whitley's parents, Anita Morris as Freddie's mother, Patti Labelle as Dwayne's mother and Ron Canada as Lena's father were all ideal for those parts.

Superfly played Whitley's Dad Too? He also played Sinclair's Father on Living Single

I agree, they did look alike.

I agree, not only did they look like they could be related, but there characters played well off of each other.
