He would always try and keep things from her like he was a little boy and she was his mother. Like in the ep when he smashed up her car, instead of saying-"Larry I smashed up Janet's Car and I know she is going to be mad at me" He says-"Larry Janet is GOING TO KILL ME!!

LOL. So he faked like he had amnesia just so Janet wouldn't beat him up?-lol This went on all through the series

But what could Janet have done to Jack if he told her I smashed your Car? Was she really going to kick Jack's ass?-lol I mean the only thing she was going to be is MAD AT HIM not beat him up which is why I was confused that he was afraid to tell her

There were many times when the earlier seasons of Janet would get on my nerves.
For example, when she thought Chrissy was a kleptomaniac...after Chrissy told them what was really going on, Janet had the friggin nerve to ask Chrissy how was she able to afford that expensive purse??????? She was a roommate, not Chrissy's mother...and besides, Chrissy was an adult who didn't need to answer to Janet abt how she could afford anything. Was Janet so dumb she didn't think of credit herself???????

I hated the way they made Chrissy look like a child all the time.

Janet was a pain in the neck and did not take crap from Jack. That's why he quivelled from her half the time.

That was actually funny. Chrissy proved to be a child most of the time, but that's what made her so lovable :)

WHat I don't understand is if Jack was always in bed with a woman, how come he wouldn't let Terri give him a shot or letting her or any lady in uniform take a look at his tattoo

Maybe with Terri, it was the idea of a woman being in control, and when you're in an emergency room, romance is the last thing on your mind!

Janet was so snotty to Jack on the episode the other night when Billie Jean Travers was coming on to him in the cooking class. I hate how Janet never believes Jack.

I agree. In real life that's the best way to lose a friend when you never believe them and always jumping to conclusions in regards to their personal life. :)

I really don't care for that episode because it makes Janet very unlikable. she comes across as a selfish shrew who could care less about if her friend is hurt--"but what about my caarrrrrrrr???":p

Of course, Jack could have done the honest thing--but then, what would the episode be about?

It's the very end of the series. They're out of ideas, they know that it's all over, and they're just going through the motions.

The thing is that Jack became more afraid of Janet as the years passed and she became more and more high strung.

I've always though that the end of the farce, and the transition into the melodrama at the end, can be located precisely. At the closing of the "Heiress" episode, Jack yells "Janet, your blood pressure!!", but that doesn't save him from getting well and truly beaten up.

A long, long way from the level-headed stiff-as-a-lamppost young Janet of the bowling-ball hairdo!

Finita la commedia, as the classical-theatre types would say. :)

I think you can clearly at some point see where the characters stopped growing and just never learned anything. How many times do you keep lying and not learn to tell the truth or keep assuming the overheard conversation was about sex or whatever? LOL
