There is a politics scene in "Horizontal Hold."
Carrie:"What about politics? We never talk about politics."
Doug:"Okay!"
Carrie:"Okay, politics!"
Doug:"I'll take politics for 200, Alex."
(Awkward silence)
Carrie:"Alright, I'll get the party started here. In the last election, how did you vote on prompt 17?"
Doug:"I voted no."
Carrie:"Really! Why?"
Doug:"I vote with a system. No, yes, no ,yes, no, yes."
Carrie:"So, you just alternate?"
Doug:"Yes, that's my system."
(More awkward silence)
:rotflmao:
With all of the awkward silence between Doug and Carrie in that scene alone, maybe that's why there isn't an entire politics themed episode?

I remember politics being mentioned a little in the episode "Roamin' Holiday" when Doug is on the couch with the boring guy, and the boring guy asks him how he's voting in the school runoff election I believe. It was very short, but I guess that it could be considered a political reference in the show and of course Doug had no clue what the guy was talking about.
As sweetdiggity said, there probably aren't that many political references in the show due to Doug and Carrie not being really up on it, to put it nicely. :)
