Once again I rely on the youth of Sitcoms Online members to help a aging midway to 30 on the slang of today's youth.

What does the word term Tool mean?
I have heard other people call people tools. I'm guessing it's bad.
I have heard it about 20 times on one of my favorite shows Next.
When somebody gets nexted they say well ther a tool.

I've always taken it to mean someone who was being used, but was too dumb to know it.

Tool is also a kickass nu metal band.

I prefer to think of them as prog-rock.

Progressive metal?

That fits, too. I hate to nit-pick, but "nu-metal," to me, means schlock bands that have come out in the last eight years or so, like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park.

I think they would fall more into the "rap metal" category. Or more acurately, "suck metal."
