today when i go on SO, sometimes i'll get something that says "trying to download [insert random file name here] and then i'll get a Norton AntiVirus warning that that file is trying to give me a virus. it's the ad about purses....it's one of those that appears on the top of the page as a banner. is anyone else having this problem?
can someone do something about this?

I turned off Adblock (I love Firefox) and started refreshing until I got the ad.
Took about 30 minutes.

(Don't worry, it's image only).
When it loads, it tries to run a file Firefox recognizes as a .asf file among other things, in addition to FF warning me I needed to install a plugin (but didn't say which one), thereby causing the problem.

no, a thing pops up that says [insert odd name here] cannot be found. Please check the name and try again.
The ad has been de-selected. Thanks for the notice.
While I respect anybody's choice to run an ad blocker, please keep in mind that SO is advertiser supported and there are server costs to cover.

The virus is now hopefully gone. If it occurs for anyone else, please, let me or TJ know.
