As a latchkey kid, this was one of the many talk shows I'd watch in the summer (along with Woody Woodbury & Paul Dixon (out of Ohio & was the first place I'd ever heard of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, back in the days when it was only sold in packets & you couldn't get it in stores!), since I hated soaps. When he sang "The Man In My Little Girl's Life", it always made me cry. Sadly, this is one of the shows that doesn't seem to be on the trading circuit. I'd love to get some of these shows.

I have 2 shows from Oct. 1976, both with co-host David Janssen.

Mike Douglas was never all that exciting

never was Mr Charisma

but he always seemed like a generally nice guy
someone u could trust and talk to

and his show was classy

nothing lowbrow

and when u watch the jerry springer/montel stuff of today

and remember douglas and his style

it takes me back

I have 40 or so MD Shows, he is one of my favorites, not a great singer, not very charismatic, but like he said, a nice guy celebs felt comfortable to talk with each and every week.

Never Knew his show was broadcast right here in Philadelphia on KYW-TV.
