I thought it might be fun to challenge each other to MASH triva as a little game....just ask a question, then when somebody answers it correctly, they get to ask a question...

So here's the first one:

What was going to be the name of the beauty article Klinger wanted Margaret to write for his camp newspaper?

tdf4077
08-18-2006, 04:12 PM
Do we not want to play, or was the question just to obscure?

I don't know the answer! Nobody else seems to either...

tdf4077
08-27-2006, 02:09 PM
Ok...it's been kinda long anyways lol!

The answer is "About Faces."

So, an easier question perhaps...

what color was Trapper's bath robe?

M*A*R*G*A*R*E*T
08-27-2006, 04:16 PM
That's better! It's yellow
Okay , what are the names of Radar's rabbits?

tdf4077
08-27-2006, 07:20 PM
Fluffy and Bonzo? I'm not so sure, so I'll wait until it's confirmed to come up w/a new question :)

M*A*R*G*A*R*E*T
08-27-2006, 11:27 PM
Sorry to keep posting but other than 3 people this forum seems kinda deserted , so I figured I might as well confirm the rabbits' names before another month....
The right answer was yes , Fluffy , but it was Bongo rather than Bonzo. Very close , though! :)

nobody seems to be playing; M*A*R*G*R*E*T; so I'll ask another question and hopefully someone'll answer:

What was the name of Col. Potters horse?

tdf4077
08-28-2006, 05:34 PM
Sophie!

What were the tables of the officer's club made of?

What was Trapper's last line on the series? (Too easy?)

tdf4077

Ugh! Good question...

Something like, "Radar! Put a mask on!"

tdf4077
09-02-2006, 09:36 AM
Am I right? I honestly am not sure on this one...

treky
09-02-2006, 10:11 PM
yes; you're right.

what was Col. Blake wearing when he went home; and what mistake was in that episode?

tdf4077
09-02-2006, 11:05 PM
He was wearing a pin-stripe suit Hawk, Trap, and Radar had made for him...but the stripes went the wrong direction I think....

treky
09-02-2006, 11:13 PM
you got it partially right; he was wearing a pin stripe suit; but I forget who made it. And; it was Trapper who had the pinstripe suit that had the stripes running the wrong way; in another episode.

but; you didn't say what mistake was in the show with Henry.

tdf4077
09-03-2006, 12:41 AM
hm...

ok, i've got a couple of guesses...first, i seem to remember Henry's pants being too short....

But, also, Klinger's outfit at the end? Just a guess...I'm not sure exactly what you're going for I guess...

treky
09-03-2006, 12:56 AM
no; it was at the very beggining; when Radar came into the O.R. and told Henry he's being discharged because he "got all his points".
The mistake is; the Army had stopped using the point system by the time of the Korean war; also they never used it for doctors and never for officers.

tdf4077
09-03-2006, 10:21 AM
Lol! I'm such an idiot! I knew that! When I read your question, I thought you meant there was a wardrobe mistake! Wow, I'm dumb...

Ok...you can come up w/another question 'cause I'm so slow

True. McLean Stevenson died one day before Roger Bowen, who played Col. Blake in the movie version. In an even more bizarre coincidence, both of them died of heart attacks.

BTW, Alan Alda appeared in every episode of "M*A*S*H."

I don't know the name of it, but it was that one where George Lindsey (Goober from "The Andy Griffith show") played that soldier named "Roy Dupree from the eight-oh-six-three" who was transfered to the 4077th temporarily, and ended up with B.J. & Charles in the swamp.

But, I'll guess "Temporary Duty."

Hawkeye appeared briefly in the first few minutes and returned for the last scene.

Hawkeye had a sister and mother in the early episodes, but after the second or third season he was an only child and his mom died when he was little.

Radar mentioned both having a brother or a sister and being an only child.

IIRC, Mulcahy said once he had several brothers, but in other episodes he mentions only a sister.

Didn't Charles once say he had more than one sibling?

Am I right?

Floyd Hayden was a veterinarian from Quapaw, Oklahoma...

What was Klinger's bra size and brand?

treky
09-04-2006, 03:19 AM
the brand was "Miss hi-rise" and I think the size was large. What was the name of the woman that Hawkeye & Trapper got to testify at Henrys preliminary trial in THE TRIAL OF HENRY BLAKE? Remember, she came in with a pregnent Korean woman and said "THIS is a sample of Henry Blakes work!" And he said "Oh boy, that's all I need"

For those who forget the episode, it's the one where Klinger tries getting out via a hang glider, and looks like "a big red bird, with fuzzy pink feet")

Hint-they also showed her in a B.J. episode, only someone else played her.

Okay, It's kind of a trick question, but here we go:

Yes, Hakweye mentioned having a sister in early episodes; but as the series wore on, it was established that he was an only child.

In "The Gun," Radar mentioned that he had the key to his bike back home, that he kept locked so his sister couldn't ride it.

In "Bulletin Board" (season 3) Margaret borrows money from Frank for a wedding present for her sister, who apparently was a Captain in the Army...

These three characters mentioned having a sibling, but they were never mentioned again.

How many kids did Frank, Henry, BJ and Trapper have?

tdf4077

Trapper: 2 (Kathy and Becky)
BJ: 1 (Erin)

100-year old American Oak!

Alright , what college did McLean Stevenson originaly want to "show his support" on the show for? ( his college sweater , mug , ect.)

treky
09-08-2006, 12:46 AM
that's right; it was oak. And the college that he showed his support for was the university of Illanois. (I know I spelled that wrong; but it's late and I'm tired. I waited around all day for a TV repairman that never showed up. Never even bothered to call!! )

OK; here's another question. Let's see....I know; who were the 2 PA announcers?
Hint: they've both been in other shows and commercials, and had roles on MASH a couple times where they didn't play the announcer)

that's right; it was oak. And the college that he showed his support for was the university of Illanois.

Not exactly ; I asked which college he originally wanted to support on the show , but the producers wouldn't let him. Here's the answer from Wiki:

"...Henry Blake is frequently seen wearing a University of Illinois varsity sweater and an Illinois coffee cup is often seen on his desk, as the character was a graduate of that school. In real life, Stevenson was an alumnus of Northwestern University (Like Illinois, a Big Ten Conference School.) Stevenson wanted to wear a Northwestern varsity sweater on the show, but the school’s purple color didn’t work right with the studio lighting, so he settled on the other Big Ten school in the state. The University of Illinois sweater, of the proper time period, was donated by the University to the show."

And as for the PA announcers , they were Todd Susman and Sal Viscuso .

tdf4077

treky
09-11-2006, 12:34 AM
"As for the P.A. announcers, they were Todd Sussman and Sal Viscuso".

And they also appeared on the show occasionely. Todd Sussman played a soldier in a season 2 episode who wanted Hawkeye & Trapper to give him a nose job, and Sal Visscuso played a soldier in one of the later eps. with Col. Potter & Charles, who told Fr. Mulcahey the location of some morphine. ("Under the old school bell".) And another time-I think it was in a "letter" episode-he played a soldier who was in a bus crash, and in post-op he was talking to Fr. Mulcahey, and saying how he didn't want to get back on the bus.

Ok...well, this could almost be a different thread in and of itself...off the top of my head, i'm not sure, but my guess would be that Mulcahy says it....if that's rights, i can probably come up w/the episode...

treky
09-11-2006, 01:37 AM

well; since noone seems to want to do this anymore; I'll answer my own question.
They originally wanted Henry to be a graduate of Northwestern university, and to have a Northwestern mug and sweater. But, Northwesterns purple color wouldn't work with the lighting on the set so they made it the university of Illonois instead. And the college donated Henrys letterman swater to the show. no; you're right, it was Klinger. The scene was; a general drove down a road in a jeep and stopped and asked Klinger where the 4077th MASH is. Klinger told him then went running off into the woods. That was going to be his only scene, but he was wearing a dress and since he looked so funny; they decided to make him a regular. (a semi-regular at first)

and Radars mouse was named Daisy.

Frank had three middle names during the series: Marion was one, other times he was referred to as Frank D. Burms and Frank W. Burns.

yes; I think that was it.

when did they first say what Radars real name was?

tdf4077
10-03-2006, 06:30 PM
They were in Blake's office, and like Hawkeye, Trapper, Blake, and Radar were watching a home video of Radar's where she mouthed "I love you walter." And Hawkeye asked who Walter was, and Radar said, "That's my given name." Hawkeye replied, "Give it back."

treky
10-04-2006, 02:33 AM
nope, that wasn't it. They first said it for the first time in the episode "Quo Vadlis, Captain Chandler" from season 8. That was the episode where they had a wounded soldier who thought he was Jesus Christ. As he was about to leave; Radar asked him for his blessing and the soldier asked him what his name is. Radar replied "Walter" and the soldier said "Bless you, Walter".

And the scene you mention was with Col. POTTER; not Blake.

Who was the only cast member that played the same character in the movie?

5-letter Yiddish word for bedbug: vontz. (sp?)

As I don't really like the movie that much, and I've actually only seen it a couple of times, I really don't know where Altman originally wanted to film the movie.

What was the name of the AWOL soldier Margaret met and dated briefly.

M*A*R*G*A*R*E*T
10-07-2006, 02:09 PM
the Essex ,
as for the spelling of bed bug , ( I looked it up) it is :vants
and the soldier was " Skully " was it something Kelly?

treky
10-07-2006, 09:24 PM
the 5 letter yiddish word for bedbug is "vantz"; Hawkeyes friend was stationed on the U.S.S. Essex; and the soldier Margret dated was Sgt. Skully.

And Robert Altman originnaly wanted to film the movie on location in Korea. But, TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX talked him out of it to save money.

treky

yes; they buried a time capsule somewhere on the Fox lot. I've heard a couple different things about what's happened to it, however. I've heard that a Hotel's since been built over the spot; and the capsule has never been found and is considered lost. But; I've also heard that a construction worker found it a year or two later; and told Alan Alda or Jamie Farr & asked them what he should do with it; but I forget what they said.

Ah. Was this in the pilot episode? Also, was it scripted as such, or was it a mistake on Larry's part they opted to keep in there?

It was in the episode "I Hate A Mystery". I'm not sure, but as it was the first time that Frank had said "Houlihan" on the show, he may have just messed up. I doubt that it was written into the script though.

Hawkeye:I think so, what did you see?

what did Hawkeye say his name was when he placed an order with Adams Ribs in "ADAMS RIBS"?

Dan Fielding
03-20-2009, 08:53 AM
Don't know if he ordered under this name, but he did say it was his name when posing as a reporter, Cranston Lamont.

What was the last line ever spoken on the show?

Dog Tags
03-29-2009, 12:37 PM
Answer:

Two names are used in this part of the story. He claims to be "Cranston Lamont" from the Chicago Trib. when talking to Dearborn Station but when placing the actual order he uses "B.F. Pierce "

The last line spoken is a bit tough as Hawkeye is rambling as he is being taken from the mess tent. Part of that includes " we lied to Mildred and everything , had to send her a check " Of course the "Praise the Lord and pass the sauce" is a rib tickler !

I think what Treky was trying to say is that Lamont Cranston was the lead character in and alter ego of "The Shadow". "What evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!!"
