Where has the time gone? Ron Howard, who played Opie Taylor many years ago on The Andy Griffith Show, is going to be grandfather. Ron's daughter Bryce Dallas Howard announced last night at the British premiere of her latest movie Lady in the Water that she was expecting her first child with husband Seth Gabel.
Bryce will next be seen later this year in the Shakespeare adaptation As You Like It and will be hard to miss in next year's blcokbuster-to-be Spider-Man 3.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine Opie a Grandpa but somehow I can imagine Sheriff Taylor a great-grandpa (and Aunt Bee a triple great-aunt).

Ron Howard is about to become a grandfather. Congratulations to his daughter Bryce and her husband. I'm sure we'll hear plenty about Ron's grandchild when that time comes. Rance Howard will be a great grandfather as well. I can only imagine how Andy Griffith, Tom Bosley and Marion Ross feel about Ron Howard becoming a grandfather. In Mayberry, Aunt Bee would've loved this, while Fonzie would be overcome with joy in Milwaukee. I'm not sure if you can call Ron Howard the youngest grandfather to direct movies, but whether we know him as either Opie Taylor or Richie Cunningham, congratulations to him as the "All-American Kid" is about to become the "All-American Grandfather".
