Question.

I set up a trade for a show- the person said they had season 1, on vhs would be trasnfering them to dvd, commericals in- about 5 discs

I sent my stuff they were going to send the next day a few days went by, not a big deal- they wrote me yesterday- saying they have my discs ready but, they coudln't find all the tapes- and so they did some ssn 1, some ssn 2 and would send today.

I wrote them - telling them to wait till we could emial/talk about it.

I dont want some of ssn 1 some of ssn 2 I want just season one---so I am curious how to illustrate that with them without it turning into a huge deal.

I know they took the time to put what they did to dvd. But I alreayd have aa bunch of dsics with episodes from here nad there- I wanted one seaosn, preferably in a row and that was what we agreed to.
So they might have already sent- and I know I have..is it just a lost cause?

I feel like I would be petty to ask them to redo them- which if they can't find the tapes might not be possible-
So I wrote them quite simply telling them what they had done, wasn't what we agreed to and was no better than what I had- if they haven't sent can I choose something else.

Is that a reaosnable request in anyones opinion.
Just curious

I think the fact that you tried emailing him to discuss it before he sends something you did not agree on is being courteous. If he sends you something you did not agree on without checking with you first, then shame on him. I would simply thank him for taking the time to put them together, but I would be firm in stating that you ONLY WANTED SEASON 1, and that's STILL WHAT YOU WANT, (LIKE YOU AGREED ON) regardless if he's sent discs already.

Well the main thing I want to avoid is insulting them, or making them feel as if their time isn't important to me.
After all not everyone cares about such things, and I never made a huge deal out of it, becuase it didn't seem like it was.

but not it seems the options are, they have to start over- which I hate to make anyone do-
or choose something else if they will let me ...which kinda defeats the purpose...
I just feel bad they took the time to do it, and it wont' work for me

this happens all the time

once things get looked at in detail, they may not be as remembered, or stated

its 5 discs, pick something else, or just take whatever is sent, and either enjoy it, or toss it, either way its no big trill

if i worried about every small thing that didnt go as 100% planned, i would be ,mad all the time

The fact is though, that if they had done what they said they would in the first place, there would be no issue. Don't feel bad asking them to start over and do it the way they said they would. They had ample time when they realized that they couldn't find what they said they had to email you and tell you the issues. You then would have had an option but it was bad form for them to decide for you.

Well they wrote back and they were very polite baout it---seems she coudln't find all the tapes- so she was workingon what she can- she sent me alist of what episodes are on each disc- and is planning on sending me seaosn oen and 2 in order, and is even allowing me to send the second half of what i owe her, after receiving them.
So i feel very happy with how they handled it---i am thankful for the feedback and strike it up to a learning experience...even if it sounds grumpy orp icky, i need to make sure int he future I am very clear on what i need...communication works both ways..
