Hello everyone,

I'm having a bit of trouble here...I am trying to view a movie in Windows Media Player (so I can then transfer it to my iPOD), yet every time I try to preview the file (it's in .avi format, if that helps any) it says 'Windows Media Player could not open the file. One or more codecs are not installed' or something like that.

What codecs do I need to play this video file on there? I downloaded a DIVX codec, but it's still not working.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

its hard to say - there are tons of different codecs, with many different versions - your best bet is to download a codec pacage like the one at:

try first: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm

if that fails, try: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

it might have an AC3 audio track, that is not supported under Windows XP
