I watched some GT episodes, and realized that the audience had cold responses in scenes that should have been evoking some sort of emotion or outburst...............................

I was shocked when nobody from the audience clapped when Thelma said that she had a good chance of getting a scholarship. She was really excited and happy, and you can clearly hear only the cast members congragulating her. I was weirded out. I was like, "Shouldn't the audience be cheering along with Thelma and the rest of the Evans family?"  When she actually got the scholarship, the audience politely clapped, which made me feel only a little better...................

The audeince showed a cold respnse when Thelma tells Mrs. Gordon, "Find yourself first!" I am surprised that no one clapped or said, 'right on!" That scene should have made the audeince react.....................

In some Good Times episodes, the laughs and cheers from the audience are too much.

Does anyone know, if towards the end, the producers used canned laughter? I'm sure they used it, but was the noise completely canned laughter? It sounds like it and I know they did that with Sanford and Son and eventually All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place.
