I was watching the first disc of season 2 on dvd becuase i dont have tv in my new apartment right now. I was always wondering something about this episode and thought you guys might know...

In part one, the whole reason that blair and jo went to the bar was to check out who could pick up the best guys and jo was wondering where all of the cute guys were.

In part two, while the girls are sitting in their bedroom, she talks about how when she gets her bike fixed she's gonna get out of there and go back to new york to see her boyfriend (the one we all know... Eddie). and she talks about how she is REALLY in love with him and they've been together for like 3 weeks or something.

Now here's the question.... why would she want to go to the chug a lug bar to find some cute college guys if she's got a boyfriend who she really loves and misses? I'm just a little confused... is this a flub?

I don't think it was a flub. I think she just wanted to compete with Blair, it doesn't hurt if she finds a cute guy though.

LOL, I thought of that too. But I agree that I think it eventually turned into a challenge with Blair and it was more about that than actually finding guys. It was more so about the competition than the result I think.

IT WAS ALL ABOUT WHO COULD GET MORE GUYS. BLAIR, OF COURSE, DIDN'T THINK JO COULD GET ANY. WHEREAS JO, WOULDN'T BACK DOWN FROM A CHALLENGE, THEREFORE, IT SET THE STAGE FOR THE ENTIRE SERIES, AS I SEE IT. FOR ONE, IT SHOWS US SOME OF JO'S BACKGROUND OF HOODLUMISM (HOTWIRING A CAR, MAKING FAKE ID'S). ALSO, WE SEE THE LAYING OF THE FOUNDATION OF A RELATIONSHIP, TAKING THE GOOD & BAD, IN THESE TWO. (COMPETITION AT THE CHUG-A-LUG BAR VS. JO STICKING UP FOR BLAIR IN THE JAIL CELL). MORE IMPORTANTLY, IT SETS UP THE ENTIRE REASON FOR WHY THESE 4 GIRLS WILL CLOSELY EXIST TOGETHER IN ROOM, AND UNBEKNOWNST TO THEM, LONG-TERM FRIENDSHIPS, ALONG WITH THEIR MENTOR, MRS. G.:)

well duh... without the whole going to the chugalug and going to jail.. there is no series. I got that, i was just pointing out the different attitudes, not saying it shouldn't have happened that way

When you think about it, from the 2nd year on it did become "The 4 Girls Who were Caught in the Bar Show".
What if the 4 girls caught in the bar happened to be Sue Ann, Cindy, Nancy, & Molly?
We would've had quite a different show.
