PLEASE READ THE WRITE-UP BEFORE YOU POST ANY QUESTIONS: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2006/08/tbs-september-2006-line-up-includes.html

Man! no Saved by the Bell at 12PM PST :(......I thought according to jim will begin this fall also?

KrisMunroe
08-03-2006, 03:35 PM
Any word on what will air weeknights now that Midnight Money Madness airs at 12am/et? They won't be able to fill 11pm/et with a movie...so it must be something else.

RE: Jim - According to Jim is beginning its local run this fall. Cable run will start in 2009 I think. See the According to Jim board, I know I posted it there.

RE: 11PM - Yes, different sitcoms will be in the 11p-12a hour each day. Mainly Raymond, Friends, Family Guy and Seinfeld (though one time I saw Home Improvement listed).

has Becker Contract with TBS Expired

Pavan
08-03-2006, 09:36 PM
Yes, Becker expires after September. I kind of hinted at that in the write-up on the blog...

Surprised no one is talking about it yet, but they probably will add 1-2 sitcoms in the fall. Anyone want to take guesses? Be realistic, too. The daypart is 12p-3p. Make your "educated guesses" here.

my guess is more saved by the bell or king of queens bosum buddies

Pavan
08-03-2006, 10:10 PM
I already posted the timeslots for King of Queens--5-6PM. And Bosom Buddies is Saturdays...it doesn't have enough episodes for weekdays I would think. So how could that be it? Educated guesses please... :)

Friends, King of Queens, Raymond, possibly Family Guy

TVJunkie101
08-03-2006, 10:38 PM
Pav, you must know than the sitcoms being added ... are they current shows already on TBS, or new shows?

I honestly can't think of any shows they'd add ...

Chelsea

Given TBS' track record in the last few years, I think we just all realise this probably won't be anything remotely exciting or interesting, and there's no reason to get our hopes up.

I wonder if TBS could put A Classic TV Series on The Weekday Schedule

L&OFan4Eva

I'll guess another hour of Saved by the Bell, 'cuz you know they love THAT show.

KrisMunroe
08-04-2006, 09:33 AM
I am going to take a stab at it and say Just Shoot Me...because it is that time to be added to cable. I would love to see Third Rock from the Sun but I think that ABC Family still has it. It also be Major Dad because Turner South owned the rights to that show and they could be sharing sitcoms. But I don't think they would trust that show on mid day. Another one could be Pee Wee's Playhouse...would love that!

Scoobiedoo30
08-04-2006, 02:20 PM
that is a Neat Schedule you have for TBS

Pavan
08-04-2006, 03:42 PM
Cosby Show and Steve Harvey will still be on sometime during 12-3pm. The other one-two shows will be similar to those. Dawson's Creek is still on in October. Malcolm in the Middle is coming to FX in fall 2007...can't be that.

Scoobiedoo30
08-04-2006, 04:05 PM
Can someone tell me The World Funniest Weddingouttakes is that with James

MLBonTBS
08-04-2006, 06:17 PM
Whatever show(s) they pick up, they must be programs they think will do better than Drew Carey if they are only going to air it 6:30am rather than putting it there.

KrisMunroe
08-04-2006, 06:25 PM
Hmmm...similar to Steve Harvey and Cosby Show...I may change my guess to Moesha (TBS orginally had the rights to air this show in 2002 but that didn't happen). Maybe Martin. I dunno...

troopoleon8897
08-04-2006, 07:07 PM
Then My guess is that they will bump TCS up an hour to 2 pm and place The Jamie Foxx Show at 1:00 and Hangin' With Mr. Cooper at 1:30

It could also be:
The Wayans Bros.
Martin
The Hughleys
City Guys

Scoobiedoo30
08-04-2006, 08:00 PM
Mossha is on WGN and The N

ghd
08-04-2006, 09:27 PM
It would be great to see Hangin with Mr. Cooper back on cable

Pavan
08-04-2006, 10:07 PM
Cooper is coming to TV One later this year. Martin is still strong for TV One. Jamie Foxx and Wayans are on BET. When I meant similar to Cosby Show and Harvey, I meant around the same time frame.

Harper49

MikeLutton
08-05-2006, 12:02 AM

Exactly. I clearly said to read the write-up, yet people still ask. Sometimes I wonder if people actually "read?" Quite sad actually. And clearly said Mama's Family is expiring, which I mentioned a lot months ago, too. Oh well, back to TBS September...

I don't know the shows myself yet, but I have a great idea on what it is. I've seen some good guesses lately. As for Bosom Buddies, I think that probably does very well for them on Saturday mornings like nothing else has ever done for them in that slot.

Scoobiedoo30
08-05-2006, 12:20 PM
could you tell us if it is A Classic Show

KrisMunroe
08-05-2006, 02:42 PM
In my mind, it must be a show that has been popular in syndication but not popular enough to air in a more "prime afternoon" slot. In the past, it has been shows like Steve Harvey and Becker that have been added to afternoon lineup so that is why I think it could be Just Shoot Me. It hasn't been sold to any cable company and it has been on syndication for 4 years now.

Pav, do you think that King of Queens will get a weekly hour "primetime spot" that Seinfeld, Raymond, and Friends get as well as it's afternoon lineup?

Maybe TBS is picking up "Cheers" or "M*A*S*H"...it has NEVER aired either of these shows, even when they were popular rerun staples weeknights on independent/Fox stations in the late 1980's/1990's.

Has Charles In Charge ever aired on TBS

TVJunkie101
08-07-2006, 09:15 AM
Charles in Charge did air on TBS. In the early 90s. I want to say between 93 and 96.

And I doubt it's Cheers or MASH. TV Land has Cheers and Hallmark has a death grip on M*A*S*H.

It's probably Just Shoot Me (a 90s show) and something from the 80s, hopefully.

KrisMunroe
08-07-2006, 10:33 AM
Charles in Charge started April 1994 and ran until July 1998 on TBS. It is hard to say what this mystery show is. Does anyone know the particulars to the Saved by the Bell/TBS renewal? How long? I am wondering if they included the Saved by the Bell: The New Class along with it.

08-07-2006, 05:22 PM
Well, we're all assuming it'll be a show that HASN'T aired on TBS, which I would hope is what does happen, but I guess we can't rule anything out.

I'm hoping beyond hope for Gimme a Break, but that's probably a huge stretch. And I still think the only more recent show that could be added would be Just Shoot Me. Maybe 3rd Rock if ABC Family doesn't have the rights anymore (and if they do -- give them UP!)

Had you searched on these boards, you would have seen that Mama's Family is moving to the "i" network starting Aug. 14 with a launch marathon on the 12th. Who cares about TBS at 6AM? Now we'll see MF at 8PM Mon-Thurs. Great change. Actually, you will see starting next week, the show on both networks for about three weeks. (4 airings per day Mon-Thurs).

That's it for Mama's Family on TBS. I remember the first day it started Jan 1997 at 9:35am/ct after Three's Company. Saved by the Bell remains the longest running show on TBS premiering November 1992. Then Cosby Show-September 1999.

Don't think ahead of yourselves again. I remember the constant "i" network conversations and everyone thought there was going to be this 24 hour classic sitcom block that was going to have many classics on it. Only two shows came out of it which were in syndication for a while (I'm not complaining about Mama's Family). All I'm saying is don't count on the best possible thing happening because no TV station is interested in quality TV anymore.

I'm still sticking with Just Shoot Me as the show they are adding. I refuse to get my hopes up for anything classic. Not that JSM is a terrible show; it's funny, but not something I watch regularly.

Either that or 3rd Rock from the Sun (which I would love; damn ABC Family for not airing it). Does ABC Family still have the rights?

TBS will now repurpose the new Megan Mullally talk show a day after it airs in syndication. It will air weekdays at 8am starting Tuesday, September 19, replacing one of the Saved by the Bell hours. No other additional changes to the schedule.

I hope to have the two new shows (in addition to King of Queens) joining in October soon. Be patient.

Harper ... take it easy about Bosom Buddies. It's renewed for at least a year, through Fall 2007 I would assume. If you don't like the show, that's fine, but not every thread about TBS has to have you arguing about Bosom Buddies. Sorry to sound harsh; I'm not usually, but this has gotta stop.

With time winding down before we hear what the new sitcom or sitcoms are going to be on TBS, I thought I would list some shows that could come to TBS. As I orginally mentioned a strong possibility is Just Shoot Me followed by 3rd Rock from the Sun. Other shows could be Bernie Mac Show unless it has been picked up by some other cable show and 8 Simple Rules. I suppose we will find out very soon as October 2 is fast approaching.

I hope they don't do this on us:
6,6:30,7,7:30 - Saved by the Bell
8:00- Megan Mullally
9:00- Dawson's Creek
10-Movie
12-Drew Carey
1-Cosby Show
2-Steve Harvey
3-Home Improvement
4-Yes, Dear
5-King of Queens
6-Seinfeld
7-Everybody Loves Raymond
8-Friends

I really hope there is two sitcoms joining TBS but I think they only have room for one by looking at their current schedule. 12pm/et is likely where something will be going...I hope it isn't Drew Carey

I thought TBS is airing Dawson's Creek for another year. I think it expires September 2007 but then again I could be wrong.

As for Family Ties, it doesn't do very well for any channel. TBS didn't know what to do with it for five years that they owned the rights to it.

So, if TBS is adding a new show between Cosby Show and Steve Harvey, one would think that it would be an african american sitcom. But which one??? The Parkers, Bernie Mac, Martin, Moesha?

Also, I still keep in mind about Major Dad which TurnerSouth owned the rights to. It would fit very well in Cosby Show-Steve Harvey mix.

Dawson's Creek and Cosby Show expire in fall 2007 for TBS I think. Bernie Mac is coming to FX I think in a few years. Might have to go and recheck that board for my post. Martin is now exclusive I think to TV One. Moesha would be interesting but it is already on WGN and The N.

I still say for the more recent show, it's probably 3rd Rock From The Sun (depending on the ABC Family contract) or Just Shoot Me. Or maybe it's just my wishful thinking ... oh, they could always pick up Cheers, although doesn't TV Land have that until 2007?

TBS is a national cable network, you're right about that. However, in the Atlanta metro area, TBS is a local station, WTBS/ch. 17. There are some things that are different in comparison to the network, but not too many. Like for instance, WTBS shows a feed of Headline News at 6 am weekdays, and there are plenty of localized commercials.

Yes, Aaron we posted already that 6-7a Cosby/Drew is off by Sept. 19: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3301204&postcount=127 I should have full details on October tomorrow, if all goes well, but yes Drew Carey will return in October on Sat 6-7am. Stay tuned.

October is up:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2006/09/tbs-adds-newsradio-other-tbs.html
The show is NewsRadio!

They changed the original plan of Cosby Show, TBD, 2 Steve Harvey, 2 TBD's from 12-3 to Two Home Improvements, NewsRadio, Cosby Show, and 2 Steve Harvey.

I think they were going to get Gimme a Break or Who's the Boss? (not confirmed at all) for the first TBD, and have an hour of NewsRadio for the second TBD, but they just went with NewsRadio.

A little disappointing with the outcome. Not sure if we needed another hour of Home Improvement in the mix but happy with Newsradio. Who would have thought it was that show!

Pavan

I am, too. I was hoping they did what they originally planned:
12:00PM Cosby Show
12:30PM Gimme a Break or Who's the Boss (TBD)
1:00PM Steve Harvey
1:30PM Steve Harvey
2:00PM NewsRadio
2:30PM NewsRadio

but instead they went with:
12:00PM Home Improvement
12:30PM Home Improvement
1:00PM NewsRadio
1:30PM Cosby Show
2:00PM Steve Harvey
2:30PM Steve Harvey
probably better ratings wise, though I would have Gimme a Break somewhere in there...wouldn't hurt.

Scoobiedoo30
09-15-2006, 12:35 PM
I was also hoping that
12:00 pm Cosby
at 12:30 pm Gimme A Break
at 1:00 pm Steve Harvey
at 1:30 pm Steve Harvey
at 2:00 pm Newsradio
at 2:30 pm Newsradio

I think Gimme a Break would bring TBS a lot of attention. It is a show that hasn't been very active on channels since WWOR aired in the 90's. Surprised that there was talk with Who's the Boss? TBS has been there and done that from 1994 to 1997.

Do you know where that other hour of Friends are going now that King of Queens is on Fridays at 8pm for an hour?

They were really close for Gimme a Break. I was going to even announce it last week, but it looks like they changed their minds in buying it. They got NewsRadio from Program Exchange, which also has Gimme a Break and Who's the Boss, that's how they got NewsRadio. Hopefully someone else buys Gimme a Break, as most Program Exchange shows are never homeless.

im hoping it doesnt go to TV Land. it'll get a primetime timeslot for 2 weeks and then it'll get shoved to 8 am on Sunday mornings and it'll take a year at the least to complete the run.

of course, as of now i just want it to go ANYWHERE. if it does go to TV Land i hope its earlier then 2008.

I think it got at least modest ratings on N@N, but because it wasn't a powerhouse like Roseanne, Fresh Prince and the others, it was given the shaft. I think it will do better on TBS, because I think it's a better fit for TBS. But we'll see. This show is so great, and if you've given it a chance and don't like it, fine. But I bet there are MANY people who won't even give "NewsRadio" a chance. As long as we get all the episodes on DVD (which the final season should be released soon) then that's all I mostly care about. Though I would like it to have a nice run in syndication as well.

N@N didn't give the show a chance. They just didn't.

It doesn't surprise me one bit that Megan Mullally is being pulled. I thought that was an interesting move back in September. Even though I had it with Drew Carey, I am happy to see it back on the schedule.

Any word on changes in the evening timeslots? It appears that King of Queens is off Friday nights at 8pm and Dinner and a Movie starts at that time.

I wouldn't count on it, even tho Murphy Brown was successfulalong time ago it has always done horrible in sydnication plus TBS is much more of a mans network, most of its shows are targeted torwards men (excluding Dawsons creek, & SITC)

Murphy Brown is under contract until like 2010 to Nick@Nite/TV Land. And I highly doubt a shared deal with this show will take place. Ratings do not garner that.
