In terms of popularity, I think there is no doubting numbers 1 -5 & 8.

(I'm not sure, but were Transformers more popular than say GI Joe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?)

Well anyway.

As for the best shows (beyond ones I agree with that are mentioned), I would have included these:

Moonlighting
Magnum, PI
Pee Wee's Playhouse
The Wonder Years (it started in 88, but Star Trek started in 87, so...)

Cosby Show shoudln't be #1 :grr: that's so overrated. and i don't really consider MWC to be an 80s show, but i'm happy it made the list. it only spent 3 (4?) years in the 80s and 7 shows in the 90s so it'd be a 90 show, wouldnt it?

ALF was a big show in the 80s. Which makes me wonder why it only had four seasons. But they had a bunch of ALF merchandise, some of which I still own. In fact, when I saw the thread title, I said "ALF" better be there.

While I don't like The Cosby Show, I agree it should be on the list. It was a big part of the 1980s. And as it's been said before "saved the sitcom." So we owe it at least that.

Why is Married... with Children listed? I know it ran in the '80s, but it ran longer in the '90s.

I dont like the cosby show either, but it did stay at number 1 for 5 straight seasons, something only All in the Family has done. So I can see it at number 1.

Night Court? Married With Children? Star Trek? Top 10??? No, no.

I don't agree with the list. I agree with most of the shows they have on there, but they should be in a different order. I think they should have The Wonder Years and The Facts Of Life on there too.

When I was a kid in the 1980s I didn't even know there was a Transformers' cartoon. lol I was into like, "The Real Ghostbuters", and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." I guess cartoons with action and humor.

I agree with those who say "The Facts of Life" should be on the list.

While "Married...with Children" was mostly a 90s series, I think the more classic seasons (aka the Steve years) were mostly in the 1980s. Plus it's always had an 80s feel to it. Maybe it was the living room set, though. :)

It was. Alf was only on 4 years and was only in the top 20 for 2 years This list is a joke. :lol:

and I love Night Court but to have that up there and leave Family Ties off.... :lol:

As much as I like some of these shows i just dont agree. wheres moonlighting? dallas or dynasty? i just dont understand

It'll just be some MSN reporter trying to fill net space. I wouldn't look too much into it. It does create a lot of discussion though which is good.

yep and it was in the top ten for most of the time they were on.
