I am glad to see The Return of The Hogan Family at 7:00 am and 7:30 am Central Time on ABC Family

I like this. However, Step By Step should be on more. I like Family Matters at 7AM as well as still at 1PM. I'd like to get in to The Hogan Family, but I'd only catch it occassionally.

Yes, Hogan Family! This is cause for celebration.
To be honest I was sure that Step by Step wouldn't even make the fall line-up because they've had it since 2001 I believe and it seemed like ABC Family has been trying to phase it out slowly and get rid of it by the end of the year...Oh well, glad it's atleast back.

They have renewed Step by Step before. I think it is under contract until 2010 even.

I think Step By Step debuted on ABC Family on March 17, 2001 at 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm

Wow, awesome to hear Step by Step is renewed for so long! I wish it'd go back to an hour though.

So are Family Matters, Grounded For Life, and Full House still on in the afternoons, as well as the mornings?

Dennis Dubois
08-01-2006, 10:05 PM
Full House has the same air times with no additional air times. Family Matters and Grounded For Life are the only shows getting more time opposed to how much they're on now. Probably, for instance, Family Matters 1PM airing will be repeated the next morning at 7AM like Full House. Same with Grounded For Life, so they won't overplay the shows like Nick at Nite does.

BTW, does anyone know how Family Matters does on ABC Family. That's my most favorite show on the channel, and I was just curious. I know it aired since 2003, but they never gave it a good time slot after they moved it from 6-7PM.

I agree about the timeslot. It was on at 6:00 and 6:30pm from October-December, then Full House took over the whole damn Channel!

I don't understand why they would want to air the same Family Matters and Grounded For Life episodes, instead of doubling up on Step By Step, my favorite show on the channel. UGH!

So are Family Matters, Grounded For Life, and Full House still on in the afternoons, as well as the mornings?

I posted the changes. Whatever is not listed will remain the same. I thought that was given?

Grounded for Life and Full House are on in the mornings on WEEKENDS only. Family Matters (yes repeats of the 1-2pm airings) and Hogan Family will be on in the mornings on weekedays.

I say dump one airing of "The 700 Club" and put "Step By Step" on from 9-10 AM weekdays (right after "The Hogan Family"). Maybe a shorter-lived sitcom could go in the 10:30 AM slot (8 Simple Rules anyone?) I am glad though that I'll get to enjoy some more of the great 80's sitcom "The Hogan Family" (I used to watch reruns on Pax, and barely remember the runs on NBC and CBS; none of our locals picked up the reruns in the early 90's) and at a convenient time before my 9:30 AM class.

Yeah, I'm sure ABC Family (hell, Fox Family would of too) would love to dump The 700 Show, but like you said, it's not a possibility.

I like the shows they air, I wish they'd go a little more 80s (Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, Gimme a Break) to name a few ... but I love Step by Step and Family Matters and The Hogan Family, so ...

Has N@N/CMT given up the rights to "The Jeff Foxworthy Show"? If so this would be another good sitcom to add to the ABCFamily lineup.

Viacom lost rights in July, I doubt ABC Family will pick it ip, as it didn't have many episodes.

I am a Christian (He died on a cross and shed blood for my sin, and I'm blessed because of that), but isn't one or two "The 700 Club" airings ENOUGH? I think Pat Robertson needs to just sell the network completely to ABC/Disney. It also airs on TBN/Daystar, my local UPN/to be CW affiliate, and my Independent Christian/part-time TBN affiliate. Wasn't "The Jeff Foxworthy Show" popular in reruns on Nick at Nite/CMT though? I mentioned that ABCFamily could drop the 10:30 Step By Step (moving SBS to 9-10 for an hour) and make room for shorter-lived sitcoms with more than a season (8 Simple Rules, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, My Sister Sam, Just the Ten of Us)

I agree that the second season stunk (NBC season), but I personally found the 1st season (ABC season) quite hilarious. Actually they should drop the "Living for Life" show at 10 AM and bring back "3rd Rock" or pick up the rights to other teen/family-oriented 80's sitcoms (Charles in Charge, Mr. Belvedere, or go sci-fi with such classics as ALF/Out of this World/My Secret Identity/Small Wonder).

Isn't Blossom owned by Disney? So why cant ABC Family pick the damn show up?! I miss it so much. Why doesn't ABC Family have a link on their website where u can contact them? Grr.. Full House and Family Matters is played out!

tvlover85
08-27-2006, 01:08 AM
Isn't The N supposed to start playing "Blossom" though? Also "Family Matters" is nowhere NEAR as played out as "Full House" is. Family Matters reruns have been off of locals/TBS/WGN for 2-3 years now and I have yet to see Nick at Nite announcing its pickup. I think that, unfortunately, "Family Matters" popularity is on the decline. Either Nick or ABCFamily should reduce their Full House airings or rest the show for a year.

Dennis Dubois
08-27-2006, 10:59 AM
Where did you hear about "Blossom" joining The N? If it is, I'll now be able to watch something on that channel!! I loved the opening to that show, and loved Six's fast mouth! I think even Sophia from "Golden Girls" guest appeared on the show.

About "Family Matters": I don't think its popularity is declining. It'll probably come back, like other shows popularity.

Honestly, this schedule looks incredibly misplaced, according to where they are showing everything. Right now, I love the lineup how it is, because I enjoy watching all of their current sitcoms. Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, first of all, probably won't do any good anyway, just because of the type of show it is. And why would ABC Family move Boy Meets World to 1:00 and 1:30, when its target audience is still in shcool at that time. Again, when it moved to 2:00 and 2:30 that was already pushing it, because still kids were in school and not able to watch it. Now Family Matters is stuck in the arliest spot possible, on twice for 2 days of a week? Well, at least Step by Step is still airing at 10:30, which isn't that bad. The only thing is, I would rather watch family Matters over Step by Step any day. PLus, why is Full House still airing 4 times a day? I mean, if they would take away 2 of those airings, they could put on an hour of Family Matters, Step by Step, or a half hour of each.

Well, this is another channel that I probably will be switching off on my TV.

Yeah, that does stink. But 14 times a week (7-8am 7 days a week) starting Oct. 2 is not that bad. But it will be airing 20 times the week of Sept. 25 (7-8am and 1-2pm)..but I think 1-2pm is just encores of 7-8am.

I'm glad they are moving Grounded For Life earlier in weekdays. In all honesty, it's not really a good show to put in that timeslot on that network. It's a raunchy show that is airing in a timeslot when kids get home (my 10 year old sister has been watching it, which I don't like at all). Sabrina replacing it is a brilliant idea....more target-age oriented.

ABC Family has ALREADY aquired the Corpse Bride!? Wasn't it released it theaters like last year?

::Throws hands up in the air:: I give up! Sabrina was on The WB for 6 years, it played on Teen Nick for a while and it's still on The N. I don't care if it's on at an ungodly hour, at least you can set your timer to record it. Blossom hasn't been on the air for years! And where I love, it was only on The WB for 2 years and that was way back in '97. Ugh, bad move ABC Family!

For some of us this is a great move... i can't see Sabrina on The-N because i don't have access to that channel because we only have digital cabel in the family room which my family uses and i can't get too... I can't wait STTW is a great addition to the ABC Family Library... although i wish Blossom would air in addition to it, because blossom ROCKS!

It really does!!! I would kill for Blossom. It fits in with Full House, Family Matters, and Step By Step (Since they're older).....I would kill for Blossom on ABCFAMILY!

And "Saved By The Bell" should be there one day too, LMAO!

Isn't Sabrina on local stations? Atleast it was the last time I checked (around March/April) For instance it aired every weekday morning on UPN Detroit, and in 2 hour blocks on weekends on WB New York to name a few. Not sure if those were pulled or not. Also, is Sabrina even on The N anymore? I haven't seen it on the schedule in months.

Sabrina's contract with local stations expired this past June--it doesn't air on any locals anymore. I'm not sure if The N is losing rights after September, as they have not released their October line-up.

Haha.. you seem to be as "thrilled" with the fall schedule as I am. Although we do diverge on our opinion of ABC Family adding Sabrina to the schedule. I am the most disappointed by that but yay! for Everwood. This is the only show I'll be watching on ABC Family until the second season of Kyle XY.

I have to admit, I find it pretty funny that in spite of two years of acquisitions and timeslot changes, we've come RIGHT BACK to the
12 PM: Full House (x2)
1 PM: Family Matters (x2)
2 PM: Step by Step (x2)
3 PM: Full House (x2)

lineup from a couple of years ago.

Removing Hogan sucks, though, it REALLY does. I FINALLY got to watch the show, and finally understood why everyone liked it.

I guess I have to come to accept the fact that not everyone is like what I like and vice versa. I grew up watching Full House and Family Matters and I used to love those shows but now I feel like they haven't aged well. I find them to be quite insipid and unfunny. But anything ABC Family does won't satisfy me until they pick up Blossom ;)

Weekdays
5:00pm Gilmore Girls (replaces 7th Heaven)

NOTES: Gilmore Girls will air at 5pm this month because 7pm all-month long will be the 25 Days of Christmas. Last week of the year will be back-to-back episodes of Everwood at 6 and 7pm from 12/26-28. Gilmore Girls will also continue to air at 11am weekdays. A few months ago 7th Heaven was airing back-to-back episodes and now it won't even be on in December. :( :( If ABCFamily wants Gilmore Girls to air at 5:00 PM they could at least take off the extra episode and air 7th Heaven at 11:00 AM. I'm tired of the weekends being all movies. Maybe 7th Heaven could air from 2-4PM on Saturdays, that would just take out one movie of the million they air on weekends.

Thank god Step By Step is still on! I was scared it was going off. They've had it since 2001. Is there any reason at all why we need 4 airings of Full House a day? Not to mention they're encores in the early afternoon from the one's the day before. And the 4 airings are only 3 hours apart!!!

What they should do is take that extra hour of Full House off, move Sabrina to 3pm, and air 7th Heaven at 4:

4:00 7th Heaven
5:00 Gilmore Girls
6:00 Everwood
7:00 Holiday Specials and Movies

Then in January, when Smallville returns, it should look like:

4:00 7th Heaven

ABC Family has acquired a lot of blockbuster movies. Most will air in January. Among them are: Stepmom, Home Alone 1, Independence Day, Ghostbusters 1, Bridget Jones' Diary, Two Brothers and Happy Gilmore. And ABC Family will premiere an original movie on Jan. 21 starring Amanda Bynes:
Lovewrecked
(8:00 PM to 10:00 PM ET/PT)
Jenny Riley (Amanda Bynes), who is always looking for "Mr. Right," and her best friend Ryan (Jonathan Bennett) are spending the summer in the Caribbean for a work study program. The calm relaxing summer the two had planned turns chaotic when Jenny's pop star idol, Jason Masters (Chris Carmack), shows up at the resort on break from his concert tour schedule. Determined to get close to him and show him they were meant to be together, Jenny follow Jason onto a dinner cruise that hits some choppy waters. Once marooned on a deserted island with Jason, Jenny sees this as her golden opportunity. But can she convince Jason that they are soul mates before they get rescued or will she realize that the real love of her life has been right under her nose the entire time?

If it were up to me, I would move 700 Club and Living the Life to 8AM. That would put 700 Club at 8AM and Living the Life at 9:00 AM. If I am correct, LTL is a 1/2 hour show, so we can start with the other programming at 9:30. I would scrap the double airings of shows like Full House and Gilmore Girls. I would have these show: Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, Grounded for Life, Boy Meets World, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Everwood, 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, and Smallville.
9:30 Grounded for Life
10:00 Family Matters
10:30 Family Matters
11:00 Step by Step
11:30 Step by Step
12:00 Full House
12:30 Full House
1:00 Boy Meets World
1:30 Boy Meets World
2:00 Sabrina the Teenage Witch
2:30 Sabrina the Teenage Witch
3:00 7th Heaven
4:00 Everwood
5:00 Gilmore Girls
6:00 Smallville
7:00 any original ABC Family Programming

If this bothers anyone, because they will be at school or work when their favorite show is airing, then maybe they should invest in a VCR & blank tapes or a DVR.
