some shows are like that and just dont show up

FBI they seem to skip many eps all the time

LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY one ep is no longer shown for some reason

MANNIX, the last 2 years are not available for syndication for some reason

THE EQUALIZER is being shown on SLEUTH every day, BUT they only show ssn 1 and 2, over and over and over

who knows why these things are as they are.....

It's because shows are sold in packages, not as a whole. And some shows may be glommed in with something else, so someone has the rights to them, but no interest in showing them.

I recently finished up a set of the 101 Dalmatians cartoon series, and there was one episode that hasn't aired in the US since 9/11, because one of the characters believes she's going to die - TPTB at Disney decided that was too sensitive to show small children any longer in the post-9/11 world. Right or wrong, the episode was pulled from rotation. I ended up finding someone who had a recording of it from Canada, and that's how I was finally able to finish the series - coincidentally, not long before Disney pulled the show off rotation entirely on Toon Disney. I was thrilled to get the episode, and was very generous in exchange, 'cos I just hated having that gap! :>

What's the Laverne and Shirley episode that isn't shown? It's running in syndication on a local channel, and I could keep a look out for it, just in case.

The holy grail of all westerns, Whispering Smith, with Audie Murphy. I have the pilot and I was told that Murphy in a drunken fit destoyed all the episodes. Someone I trade with tells me a lady he trades with has 12 of the episodes and she will convert them. This guy is very reliable, as I have gotten many rare items from the 50's and 60's from him, so I have my fingers crossed.

It's nice going to the mailbox and besides the usual bills receiving some nice items. The fun part of the hobby.

Well Mr. Self proclaimed TVResearcher if you knew anything about TV you would know that the just recently passed Barnard Hughes was Mr. Merlin and he also starred in a great 80's series called the Cavanaughs and another good one in the 70's called Doc. Elaine Joyce was also in this series as she was host of The Dating Game one of the few game shows I ever watched and she has a very solid career resume appearing on TONS of tv shows, soap operas over the past 35 years or so. She was also married to Neil Simon and Bobby Van and wasnt bad looking either.

Clark Brandon was on several Facts of Life episodes and the Out of the Blue tv series (something I THINK you were looking for at one time) but why am I telling you this because you know everything Mr. TV Researcher.

But I shall excuse Mr. TV Researcher's ignorance with the fact he probably isnt old enough to remember this series, so I'll give him that.

Mr. Merlin's one of those shows I'd like to see, but missed it consistently when it was on the air.

I loved Bernard Hughes in Doc. He really perfected the crotchety old codger with the heart of gold. While I was never a big fan of Clark Brandon, he was one of the big teen heartthrobs at the time. I didn't realize Elaine Joyce was in that - man, now I'm really sorry I missed it.

what is one show on your want list that you can't find? the one thing that I cant find is a complete set of Diff'rent Strokes.

Mine is You Wrote It, You Watch It. It's a recent show too, I think it was on during 1992 on MTV, when they were just starting to do TV shows and were still mostly showing videos. It had sketches done by the cast of The State, which is a show that seems to be easier to find episodes of, unlike this show that The State previously appeared on. For those who never saw it, it was basically a show where Jon Stewart read viewer mail, usually with funny stories from peoples' pasts or from their youth and as the letters were read, the stories were acted out by the cast of The State. I think it only lasted one season. Jon Stewart went on to have his own talk show on MTV, then on national TV before eventually appearing in movies and then of course, The Daily Show. The State went on to do their own sketch comedy on MTV, called The State and then pretty much disbanded to do different projects like the movie Wet Hot American Summer and the TV shows Viva Variey, Random Play and now Reno 911!. This is pretty much the only show on my want list that nobody seems to have. Hopefully, the talks of The State being released commercially on DVD by Viacom, along with the You Wrote It, You Watch It episodes will someday come to fruition. Until then, I keep checking The State's official website for any news updates.

Two Animated TV Series that were shown on ABC Saturday Morning from 1969 to 1971.

Hot Wheels

Skyhawks

Both shows were taken off the air in 1971 after a "Do Gooder" Group called Action for Children's Television persuaded the FCC to declare both series to be "Program Length Commercials" and order them cancelled. :angryfire

Mine is The Gray Ghost, a 1959 Civil War series about John Mosby that aired in reruns through most of the 60's. My favorite childhood show -- I grew up in Mosby country.

Over the years I've acquired 14 of the 39 eps plus the 4 minute trailer.
I also have over 20 discs from sources claiming to have 15, 17, 19, 25, 35 and 39 eps. They have all turned out to be some or all of the same 14 eps, under a variety of titles.

Expectations are low, but hope springs eternal.

I would love to find any episodes of "For Love And Honor", a short lived series set on an Army base that ran on NBC in late 1983 through early 1984. I think it came on after "The A-Team" and "Riptide" on Tuesday nights.

I would also love to find an uncut copy of the ABC airing of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" where they ran the movie over two nights and re-edited the order of the scenes and added voice-over narration. This version first aired in 1976 and I think it re-aired in this version one more time in 1980.
